(I) Leading in(5 minutes)
1. Play a vide clip f a classic fairy tale, such as Snw White, t guide students
int the wrld f fairy tales.
2. Ask the students: " What happened in the stry?"Encurage students t answer
in simple English t lead t the cncept f a general past tense.
(II) Grammar presentatin (10 minutes)
1. Shw the sentences in Grammar Fcus. Let the students read alud and
bserve the structure and verb frm f the sentences.

2. Guide students t summarize the structural characteristics f the questins and
statements in the past, and emphasize the changes f the past.
3. Explain the change rules f the past style f verbs, such as regular verbs
plus-ed, and the special change frms f irregular verbs, and let the students deepen
their understanding thrugh examples.
(III) Practice and cnslidatin (15 minutes)
1. Cmplete the exercise f 3a
Let the students read the sentences, judge the tense used, and think abut what
circumstances t use that tense.
Please answer the questins, and the teacher will cmment n them and
supplement them.
2. Cmplete the exercise in 3b
Students chse the crrect frm f verbs t fill in the blanks.
Check the answers between each ther, and then the teacher explains the easy
pints.
3. Cmplete exercise 3c
Students shuld fill in the blanks with the passage independently, and pay
attentin t the tense and frm f the verb.
Invite students t share answers and the class t discuss and crrect tgether.
(IV) Grup discussin and sharing (10 minutes)
1. Organize the students t have grup discussins, let the students share their
favrite fairy tales, and try t tell the main plt f the stry in the general past.
2. Each grup will elect a representative t share the mst wnderful stries in
the grup with the whle class.
3. Students frm ther grups listened carefully, and asked questins and made
cmments after the sharing.

1. Review with the students the general past grammar knwledge learned in this
lessn, including the cmpsitin, usage, the change rules f the verb past, etc.
2. Emphasize the imprtance f the past in telling what happened in the past, and
encurage students t use it mre in their daily life.
(VI) Hmewrk assignment (2 minutes)
Read an English fairy tale, find ut the sentences that use simple past tense, and
analyze its usage.
