Dunhuang.
Students will be able t have simple cnversatins abut traveling and express
their feelings and experiences.

Learn and understand the grammar f simple past tense and the usage f sme
adverbs.
Understand and use the sentence patterns: "It's famus as...", "May ", "Is it

Cultivate students' interest in histry and culture, and enhance their awareness
f cultural heritage prtectin.
Encurage students t be brave t try new things and vercme difficulties in
the prcess f explratin.

三、Teaching Materials Analysis
These tw lessns are part f the unit "A trip t the Silk Rad". The text mainly
describes the grup's visit t Dunhuang, intrducing the city's histrical and cultural
backgrund and the experiences f the characters. The text is rich in cntent and vivid in
language, which is cnducive t stimulating students' interest in learning. At the same
time, the exercises in the textbk can help students cnslidate the knwledge learned
and imprve their language skills.

Students in grade seven have certain language fundatins and are full f curisity
and desire fr knwledge. They are interested in traveling and histrical culture.
Hwever, their language expressin ability and thinking ability are still in the prcess f
develpment. Therefre, in the teaching prcess, teachers shuld design varius

Step 1: Lead-in
1. Shw sme pictures f the Silk Rad and ask students: D yu knw the Silk
Rad? What d yu knw abut it?
2. Play a shrt vide abut the Silk Rad t aruse students' interest and lead t the
tpic f this lessn.
Step 2: Pre-reading
1. Present the new wrds and phrases related t the text, such as "amazing",
"famus as", "ride a camel", "fall ff", etc., and explain their meanings and usages.
2. Ask students t predict what will happen in the text based n the title and
pictures.
Step 3: While-reading
1. Skimming: Ask students t read the text quickly and answer the fllwing
questins:

What is Dunhuang famus as?
2. Scanning: Ask students t read the text carefully and answer the detailed
questins:
Wh walked n the same rad as Marc Pl?
Des Danny want t ride a camel? Why?
3. Detailed reading: Analyze the key sentences and language pints in the text with
students, such as the usage f the simple past tense and the sentence patterns.
Step 4: Pst-reading
1. Let students retell the text in their wn wrds.
2. D the exercises in the textbk, such as "Listen and write true (T) r false (F)",
"Read the lessn and fill in the blanks", and "Fill in the blanks with the crrect frms f
the wrds r phrases in the bx".
Step 5: Grup wrk
1. Ask students t wrk in pairs and cntinue the dialgue in the lessn. What
happens after Jenny and Danny get n the camels?
2. Invite sme grups t perfrm their dialgues in frnt f the class and give

Step 6: Summary and Hmewrk

mre guidance and encuragement in the future. Als, I shuld pay mre attentin t
individual differences and adjust the teaching prgress and methds accrdingly t
ensure that each student can make prgress.
