Other factrs are als imprtant in the inventin f new accents and ways f speaking. These include the influence f peple frm different cuntries and different age grups, t.
“Yf culture” is an example. The wrd “yf” is a slang (俚语) spelling f “yuth”. Yung peple are creating their wn language, ideas and identity. By using wrds that their parents dn’t understand, children can talk abut things that their parents might nt agree with. Fr example, instead f saying smething like “That’s gd!” r “I understand”, yf will use a single adjective like “Safe!”, r “Srted!” Yf wuld use “kind-a-thing” r “srt-a-thing” t replace “if yu understand what I’m saying”. In this way, they are starting t find freedm, independence and self-expressin.
As learners f English, we may wnder hw well we can talk t a native speaker, but perhaps we shuld wrry less abut this. Research by the British Cuncil shws that 94 percent f the English spken in the wrld tday is spken between nn-native speakers f the language.
