    What: The theme cntext f this unit is persnal characteristics and cmparisn with thers. The listening recrding is an interview abut tw girl, Mlly and Mary,and their best friends. The cntents f the interview are mainly what they like their friends best, the similarities and differences between them.
    Why: The interview abut the characteristics f the tw girls and their best friends can help students better understand the usage f cmparatives and hw t make cmparisn. Als, by listening t this recrding, students can think critically what a gd friend shuld be like, and whether a gd friend shuld be the same r the different.
    Hw:The listening recrding is an interview, the interviewer asked the interviewees what they like their friends best, what they have in cmmn and what they are different frm each ther. In the listening recrding, cmparisns and the usage f cmparatives exist, which can highly help students review hw t make cmparisns and imitate it.
    Teaching bjectives
    By the end f the sessin, mst students will be able t:
    grasp sme new wrds and phrases such as truly, bth, be talented in, and understand the meaning f the listening recrding. (learning and understanding)
    talk abut what d they think a gd friends shuld be like, master the usage f cmparatives and talk abut their best friends using cmparatives. (applying and practicing)
    knw what is really imprtant in a gd friend, and express their thughts abut shuld friend be the same r different. (transferring and creating)

    Anticipated difficulties
    Students may feel it difficult t use the cmparatives and think critically abut what makes a gd friend, shuld a gd friend be the same r different.
    Teaching prcedure
    Teaching Objective1: learning and understanding
    Activity1: Shw a vide clip abut a famus cartn, presenting the what are friends be like in the vide. Then the students will be invited t find the characteristics f the tw heres.
    Activity2: Let students vice their pinins abut what makes a gd friend by using sentences like “I think”, “Fr me”, “In my pinin”.
    Activity3: Check the table f the exercises, including the name f the heres, and the main parts f the cnversatin.
    Activity4: Play the tape and ask students t find ut what d Mlly and Mary like abut their best friends and fill in the first clumns f the chart.
    Activity5: Let students listen again and cmplete the whle chart. If needed, listen t it again t get mre detailed infrmatin.
    Teaching Objective2: applying and practicing
    Activity1: Organize the infrmatin abut the listening recrding t a whle paragraph.
    Activity2: Ask students t talk abut their best friends with their partners, especially the similarities and differences.

    This design f class mve smthly thrugh the easy part t mre cmplicated and difficult parts. At the beginning f the class, presenting the knwledge students have learned t d a review and refresh the stred knwledge. Then, at the medium stage, develping students’ listening skills and help students grasp the meaning f the listening recrding. And after listening, ask students t d brainstrming t think mre critically and creatively, and help them better understand the meaning f friendship. Hwever, the practice f listening is a little bit bring and mechanical, it shuld be mre flexible and varius.
