    What:The theme f this unit is “Man and self”. This reading material is an expsitin abut reslutins. In this passage, it has three parts, the first part(para. 1) is abut the meaning f reslutin, the secnd part(para. 2) is abut different kinds f reslutins and the last part(para. 3) is t questin the idea f making reslutins.
    Why: The authr illustrates the meaning, varieties f reslutins and calls fr peple t achieve reslutins. Frm thse, the authr wants t demnstrate significance f future plans and keep it, therwise, it’s advisable t have n reslutins. Als, the purpse is t prvke readers’ hpe abut future and adhere t achieve reslutins.
    Hw:The authr uses wrds and chunks t precisely delineated the meaning f reslutin, fr instance, “prmise, at the beginning f, write dwn” ; uses “physical, have t d with, self-imprvement, take up, hbby, weekly” t intrduce kinds f reslutins and aims f reslutins; uses an example t shw that nt making a reslutin is better than nt making a reslutin.

    Activity 1. Watch a vide
    Students are asked t watch a vide abut New Year’s reslutins and answer the fllwing many New Year’s reslutins are mentined in this vide? 2.What are they?
    Activity 2. Read and match
    Students are asked t read the passage quickly and match each paragraph [1~3] with its main purpse.
    Teaching bjective2:Students are able t analyze the reasn why the authr wants t write this kind f passage abut future plans, internalize the significance f reslutins and perseverance f keeping reslutins and apply the newly learned wards and phrases, such as“prmise; self-imprvement; at the beginning f ; write dwn; be abut”,etc. (Applying and practicing)

    Students are asked t read the passage again and put the sentences[A~D] in the crrect places.

    Students are asked t read paragraph1 carefully and cmplete the chart.

    Students are asked t read paragraph2 carefully and answer 2 questins.

    Activity 8. Debate
    Students are asked t debate “Is it necessary t make reslutins?”. And students with the same pinin are in a team.
    Intrductins
    Activity 1 will help students’ review what they learned in the last class, practice their view ability and trigger riginal schema.
    Activity 2 is aim at practicing students’ lgical and summarizing ability, als helps students get the main idea f the passage.
    Activity 3-7 makes students better understand the cntent f each paragraph and facilitates students’ inferential capability, als cnslidates students’ learned sentences int practice.
    Activity 8 will imprve students’ lgical and speaking ability, hping them frm right future plan.

But in ther wrds, different students have different levels and the last activity wuld be hard fr lwer-level students and they will lse enthusiasm fr indulging in the activity and withut sense f participatin.
