water-based, like cucumber r tmat, shuld be avided in case the bread r wraps becme wet.
And Rachael, wh has tw primary schl age children, desn’t stp there with the preparatin. She als
makes the decisins easily ver what t give her children daily by drawing up a list f different fds t put in the
bxes. She prefers lunchbxes with different parts that wn’t leak and each sectin is used fr varius items such as
fruit r snacks. The wise mm smetimes even sends her kids int schl with a fd therms fr warm lunches.
“Yu can really send almst anything,” she shares.
But even Rachael has days when she just desn’t have the time r energy t make a meal fr her little nes
and she says n these ccasins schl dinners are definitely a suitable alternative. “Plan sme mney fr a lunch
rder n yur hardest weekdays. Usually schl dinners aren’t t expensive and taste gd,” she says.
Rachael is a c-funder f the hugely ppular Facebk grup Mms Wh, which has ver a millin members.

Crtisl, widely recgnized as the “stress hrmne(激素)”, plays a key rle in managing stress. The recent
discussins in TikTk suggest a misinterpretatin that crtisl imbalances are directly respnsible fr varius health
issues, frm lse skin t sleep and digestive prblem. “The relatinship between crtisl and bdy symptms is
nt straightfrward.” Experts like Martin Picard frm Clumbia University emphasizes.
Our bdies release crtisl when we encunter a challenge, whether psychlgical r physical, real r
imagined. Things like cming acrss a bear n a hike, receiving an annying wrk email r delivering a public
speech are the typical cases. Crtisl aids in energy supply and metablism(新陈代谢) cntrl. Its levels vary,
peaking in the mrning and reducing by night.
Hwever, lng-term stress can disturb this balance, leading t sustained high crtisl levels. Ptential
disadvantages are weakened immune(免疫的) system and high bld sugar, as well as mental illnesses like
depressin and PTSD. In extreme cases, t much crtisl prductin may lead t Cushing’s syndrme,
characterized by serius physical changes and requiring medical treatment.
Identifying crtisl-related issues requires prfessinal evaluatin, as self-assessment r at-hme testing may
nt prvide accurate results due t crtisl’s dynamic nature. Experts suggest cnsulting healthcare prfessinals
fr a thrugh check. While there’s n ne- size-fits-all slutin fr managing crtisl levels, research indicates
that practices such as yga, mindfulness, and mderate exercise can aid in regulating the bdy’s stress respnse.
These activities nt nly help in reducing stress but als in training the bdy t manage its stress respnse mre
    effectively ver time.
In cnclusin, crtisl plays a key rle in hw ur bdy handles stress and functins verall. Hwever, saying
that many health prblems are just due t crtisl imbalances misses the cmplex interactin between hrmnes,
stress and health. It’s imprtant t take a hlistic apprach t health, with prfessinal guidance and persnalized
    stress management strategies.
    28. What can we learn abut crtisl?
    A. It can directly cause sleep disrder. B. It wn’t influence physical health at all.
    C. It has nthing t d with stmach upset. D. It is ften misunderstd n scial media.
    29. What can be inferred frm paragraph 4?
    A. Exercise guarantees crtisl decrease.
    B. Hme testing f crtisl is nt available.
    C. Multiple tests may be required t measure crtisl.
    D. Experts dismiss hme activities in stress management.
    30. What des the underlined wrd “hlistic” mean in the last paragraph?
    A. Medical. B. Physical. C. Immediate. D. Integrated.
    31. Where is this text mst likely frm?
    A. An educatin guide. B. A health magazine.
    C. A bk review. D. A scientific paper.
    D
Studying literature allws us t explre universal truths, which may deliver a lifetime sense f wellbeing.
Hwever, such benefits were sadly nt enugh t persuade Sheffield Hallam University t cntinue t ffer an
English literature degree t undergraduates. Due t falling demand fr arts and humanities curses, the university is
ceasing the curse. It fllws a similar mve by the University f Cumbria last year and cuts t humanities funding
    elsewhere.
This decline is partly caused by the increasing cmmercializatin f higher educatin, which values degrees
based n jb prspects and starting salaries. With dramatically increasing graduates wing ver £100,000 in student
lans, it is understandable that yung peple frm lwer-incme backgrunds might think twice abut taking a
nn-vcatinal(非职业类的) curse. Applicatins fr English studies have fallen steadily since 2012, when the
    tuitin fees rse t £9,000.
Meanwhile, suppsedly “dead end” university curses— thse which fail t deliver an instant graduate
reward in the jb market are cming under increasingly aggressive inspectin. This year, the Office fr Students set
ut plans t remve funding fr “lw quality” curses, defined as thse where less than 60% f participants g int
gd jbs r further study sn after graduating.
The verall apprach is bth wrng-headed and shrtsighted. As Mr Graham pints ut, the arts and
entertainment industry has becme ne f the few bming areas f the ecnmy in which Britain can claim t be
wrld-leading. Additinally, judging the wrth f a curse slely by labr market utcmes ignres ther imprtant
values, such as persnal grwth and cultural cntributin.
After a decade f marketisatin, a seriusly practical wrldview is beginning t sweep ver England’s higher
educatin sectr. But the inner quality and wrth f a curse cannt be fairly judged by reference t emplyment
statistics and labur market utcmes. Sheffield Hallam’s decisin must be a wake-up call fr thse cncerned t
preserve the future f the arts and humanities in ur universities.
    32. Why did Sheffield Hallam University cease its English literature curse?
    A. A lack f qualified teachers.
    B. Decreased need fr arts and humanities.
    C. Pr feedback abut the prgram.
    D. Rising interest in vcatinal curses.
    33. Which factr has discuraged students frm applying fr humanities degrees?
    A. N funding frm the gvernment.
    B. High tuitin fees and student lan debt.
    C. A rise in cmpetitive vcatinal prgrams.
    D. A barrier t persnal grwth.
    34. What is the authr’s attitude t the trend f reducing humanities curses in universities?
    A. Critical. B. Supprtive. C. Neutral. D. Uncncerned.
    35. Which f fllwing is a suitable title fr the text?
    A. Higher Educatin Industry: A Heated Game
    B. Majr Adjustment Plicy: A Wake-up Call
    C. Arts and Humanities: A Must-keep Prgram
    D. Vcatin and cmmercializatin: A Fcused Trend

Every day we are filled with infrmatin, much f which is given by peple wh want t shape ur decisins.
S, we need t evaluate the infrmatin and determine hw we shuld respnd. 36 It’s the ability t think
clearly and see hw ideas are cnnected. Like any skill, critical thinking can be learned, and the best way t learn it
    is by practising.
Yu cannt evaluate an argument that yu d nt understand. 37 Yu may need t ask questins t
clarify the persn’s claims and ask them t explain key terms, especially wrds with multiple meanings.
Once yu understand what the persn is saying, then yu can cnsider whether it’s true. 38 Yu can
figure this ut by cnsidering the surce f the facts and whether the facts line up with what yu already knw
abut the tpic. Fr a cnflict, discver whether yur understanding is incrrect r the new statement is wrng.
Critical thinking als invlves examining peple’s mtivatins and assumptins. Fr example, a salesman will
present facts that are selected t cnvince yu t buy what he is selling. 39 It’s necessary that yu
recgnize these factrs t predict when smene else’s statements might nt be accurate r cmplete.
40 Pking hles in ther peple’s arguments can be necessary, but yu must acknwledge the
pssibility that yur wn beliefs smetimes can be wrng. By critically examining bth yur wn and thers’
pinins, yu can understand the way the wrld wrks and make decisins in light f the truth.
    A. Analysing infrmatin requires critical thinking.
    B. And he will leave ut facts that dn’t help him reach that gal.
    C. Thus, the first step t critical thinking must always be listening.
    D. Because it’s pssible t draw incrrect cnclusins frm crrect facts.
    E. S learning abut the cmmn arguments and yur wn beliefs can help.
    F. The mst imprtant questin is whether the facts they state are actually true.
    G. Critical thinking requires examining yur wn ideas and assumptins as well.

Mving frm urban New Jersey t the Pennsylvania wds was a dream cming true fr me. My hme was
