C.About $40 million.20.What can we learn about Amitabh Bachchan?A.He has starred in 114 films.B.He is one of the greatest American actors.C.He has a great passion for the film industry.【答案】17.B 18.B 19.A 20.C【原文】W: Hi, everybody. Do you know Bollywood? Today I’d like to tell you about it. Bollywood, which is the name of the film industry in Mumbai, India, makes almost 1,000 films a year. Since making its first film in 1913, Bollywood has made over 29,000 films. This is a much higher number than Hollywood in the USA and means it is the biggest film industry in the world. Most Indians like watching films better than other free-time activities like traveling or doing sports. Ten million of them go to the cinema every day. Bollywood films tell love stories, and singing and dancing are an important part of every film. Indian films are also enjoyed outside India. Indian actors make more films each year than American actors in Hollywood, but they are not paid as much. This is why most Bollywood films only cost about $2 million to make. Hollywood film is never made for under $5 million. Most Bollywood actors are young. They work hard but only for a few years. Amitabh Bachchan, who some people say is India’s greatest actor, is different. He has been working in the film industry for 40 years, and has been the star of more than 140 films. OK, that’s all for today. Thank you for your listening. AThe Age of Enlightenment was a philosophical movement of the 18th century. Roy Porter definitively shows that underestimating Britain’s role in this movement is misguided. He gives us the works of Pope, Mary and William Godwin, and Defoe as evidence. The publisher: “This new work highlights Britain’s key role in spreading the ideas and culture of the Enlightenment. Moving beyond the numerous histories centered on France and Germany, Roy Porter explains how monumental changes in thinking in Britain influenced worldwide developments.”21.What does Encyclopedia of the Enlightenment cover?A.Only activities in traditional centers of the movement.B.Activities in Edinburgh, Geneva, Philadelphia and Milan.C.Both traditional centers and less well-known centers.D.Mainly the works of Kant, Newton, Franklin and Pain.22.Which book focuses specifically on Britain’s role in the Enlightenment?A.Encyclopedia of the Enlightenment. Creation of the Modern World部分中“Most writing about the Enlightenment focuses on France, but very little attention is paid to Britain. Roy Porter definitively shows that underestimating Britain’s role in this movement is misguided. He gives us the works of Pope, Mary and William Godwin, and Defoe as evidence. 以及“This new work highlights Britain’s key role in spreading the ideas and culture of the Enlightenment. 由文章Encyclopedia of the Enlightenment部分中“Designed and organized for ease of use, its special features include more than 700 signed articles; a synoptic outline of contents; a comprehensive topical index (索引) providing easy access to networks of related articles; and high quality illustrations. 、Portable Enlightenment Reader部分中“Issac Kramnick collects easy-to-read selections from the top writers of the Age of Enlightenment, showing how the philosophy informed not just literature and essays, but other areas of society as well. 、Race and the Enlightenment: A Reader部分中“Emmanuel Eze collects into one convenient volume the most important and influential writings on race that the European Enlightenment produced. A。BHave you ever read a book and found that one of the characters is exactly your carbon copy? And you relate to the character so well that you can’t help but wonder if the author had somehow observed your own life? Well, that is Anne Shirley from Anne of Green Gables for me.There are many instances in the book where I particularly felt connected to little Anne, like the one where she does a performance at a school concert. Although she has gone up on stage several times before, this is the time she gets a taste of stage fright. The same thing happened to me during a poetry competition in high school. Never did I find the stage as intimidating as I did on that day. There’s another situation where her friends don’t miss home as much, while Anne is terribly homesick. I could imagine how Anne feels. I’ve always wondered how people can move out of a place where they’ve spent their entire childhood and not feel even a pinch of sorrow.Whether it is the world of imagination that she loves to weave, or the experience of growing up as a lonely child, or the beautiful moments of daydreaming, or her fondness for nature, Anne is me, through and through. As I read through the chapters learning about her chattering nature asa kid that grew quieter during adolescence and the respect for her teachers, I saw myself in her.I grew so close to Anne and her friendships, her school and her dear little Green Gables and its inhabitants, that I couldn’t control my tears when I finished reading the last chapter. That’s what books do. They give you the freedom to live inside their fictional world even when you’re aware that you’re only a reader who exists outside. And although your existence inside that fictional world is imaginary and temporary, you end up cherishing that experience for a lifetime.24.What does the underlined word “intimidating” in paragraph 2 mean?A.Horrible. B.Competitive. C.Beautiful. D.Boring.25.What does the author think of those who don’t feel homesick?A.She can’t imagine their childhood. B.She appreciates their independence.C.She can’t understand their behavior. D.She sympathizes with their sorrow.26.What kind of person is Anne Shirley?A.Imaginative and nature-loving. B.Proud and dream-pursuing.C.Creative but lonely-minded. D.Competitive but self-centered.27.Why did the author cry when she finished the book?A.She was moved by Anne’s tough experience. B.She hated to part with her beloved characters.C.She failed to understand the story in the book. D.She was unhappy with the ending of the book.【答案】24.A 25.C 26.A 27.B【导语】这是一篇夹叙夹议文。 根据划线词上文“Although she has gone up on stage several times before, this is the time she gets a taste of stage fright. The same thing happened to me during a poetry competition in high school.(虽然她以前上过几次台,但这是她第一次尝到怯场的滋味。 故选A。25. 根据第二段“I’ve always wondered how people can move out of a place where they’ve spent their entire childhood and not feel even a pinch of sorrow.(我一直在想,人们怎么能离开一个他们度过了整个童年的地方,却一点也不感到悲伤)”可知,和Anne一样,作者也是个恋家的人,因此她对不想家的同学们感到不理解。故选C。26. 根据第三段“Whether it is the world of imagination that she loves to weave, or the experience of growing up as a lonely child, or the beautiful moments of daydreaming, or her fondness for nature, Anne is me, through and through. As I read through the chapters learning about her chattering nature asa kid that grew quieter during adolescence and the respect for her teachers, I saw myself in her.(无论是她喜欢编织的想象世界,还是作为一个孤独的孩子长大的经历,还是白日梦的美丽时刻,还是她对自然的喜爱,安妮都是我,彻头彻尾的。 故选A。27. 根据最后一段“I grew so close to Anne and her friendships, her school and her dear little Green Gables and its inhabitants, that I couldn’t control my tears when I finished reading the last chapter. That’s what books do. They give you the freedom to live inside their fictional world even when you’re aware that you’re only a reader who exists outside.(我对安妮和她的友谊、她的学校、她可爱的小绿山墙和它的居民变得如此亲近,以至于当我读完最后一章时,我无法控制自己的眼泪。 B。CA man in a lab coat bends under a dim light with tight eyes looking at a microscope. Time is short, the pays-off are high, and only this scientist can save everyone. That kind of romanticized picture of science was standard for a long time. But it’s far from the truth. Some scientists search for the causes of some observable effects, such as the link between destroyed forests and Earth’s temperature increase. Others may investigate the “what” rather than the “why” of things. For example, ecologists build models to estimate gray wolf abundance in Montana, US. It’s impractical to spot them all and count them. Abundance models are not 100 percent accurate, but they offer estimates that seem good enough to set harvesting quotas (限额) and maintain the ecosystem.Beyond the “what” and the “why”, scientists may focus on the “how”. For instance, the lives of people living with  illnesses can be improved by research on how to relieve symptoms, even if the true causes of their disorders are largely unknown to current medicine.People often think “real science” should provide definite, complete and perfect answers to their questions. However, given various limitations and the world’s complexity, keeping multiple perspectives in play is often the best way for scientists to reach their goals and solve the problems at hand.In the world of science, healthy disagreement is a feature, not a bug. Science is a social process in which the community’s scrutiny (监督) ensures we have the best available knowledge. “Best available” does not mean “definitive”, but the best we have until we find out how to improve it.The long history of atomism (原子论) shows how science is a process rather than a fast delivery of results set in stone. As scientist Jean Baptiste Perrin conducted his 1908 experiments that seemingly settled all discussion regarding atoms, questions about the atom’s properties were about to spark decades of controversy with the birth of quantum (量子) physics. Similar discussions continue to the present day.So, real science is a collective, imperfect and may-sided process in which scientists contribute multiple and often partial solutions to complex and diverse problems.28.How does the author introduce the topic of the article?A.By describing a scientific research process.B.By telling a scientist’s personal experience.C.By giving an example of scientific failure.D.By presenting a common misconception.29.What do paragraphs 2-3 mainly talk about?A.The challenges faced by scientists.B.The history of scientific research.C.The methods scientists use to share results.D.The various focuses of scientists in their research.30.What is the author’s view on healthy disagreements in science?A.They are essential for scientific progress.B.They create confusion and delay conclusions.C.They indicate problems in scientific methods.D.They often lead to the rejection of old theories.31.Why does the author mention Jean Baptiste Perrin’s experiments and the subsequent debate ?A.To show science is a collection of facts.B.To prove scientific knowledge is always absolute.C.To illustrate science is a dynamic and evolving process.D.To show scientific conclusion can be reached after discussion.【答案】28.D 29.D 30.A 31.C【导语】本文是一篇议论文。 由文章第一段“A man in a lab coat bends under a dim light with tight eyes looking at a microscope. Time is short, the pays-off are high, and only this scientist can save everyone. That kind of romanticized picture of science was standard for a long time. But it’s far from the truth. 由文章第二段中“Some scientists search for the causes of some observable effects, such as the link between destroyed forests and Earth’s temperature increase. Others may investigate the “what” rather than the “why” of things. 、第三段中“Beyond the “what” and the “why”, scientists may focus on the “how”. 根据第五段中“In the world of science, healthy disagreement is a feature, not a bug. Science is a social process in which the community’s scrutiny (监督) ensures we have the best available knowledge. “Best available” does not mean “definitive”, but the best we have until we find out how to improve it. 故选A。31. 根据倒数第二段“The long history of atomism (原子论) shows how science is a process rather than a fast delivery of results set in stone. As scientist Jean Baptiste Perrin conducted his 1908 experiments that seemingly settled all discussion regarding atoms, questions about the atom’s properties were about to spark decades of controversy with the birth of quantum (量子) physics. Similar discussions continue to the present day. DDecision fatigue (决策疲劳) is a psychological phenomenon where the quality of decisions declines after a long session of decision-making. It is caused by the limited mental energy we have for making choices each day. While many of us believe we are logical beings capable of weighing every option carefully, decision fatigue shows how our mental resources can be used up over time. One of the key studies on this phenomenon was conducted in the context of parole hearings Researchers found that judges were more likely to approve of parole early in the day or after a meal break. As the day progressed and the judges made more decisions, they were increasingly likely to maintain their previous decisions, denying parole simply because it required less mental effort. Decision fatigue not only affects major life choices but also everyday decisions. For instance, people often report struggling to decide what to eat for dinner after a long day. Similarly, too many choices, such as when looking through streaming platforms or online stores, can leave individuals feeling confused, leading them to abandon the process entirely or settle for a less satisfying option. To overcome decision fatigue, some well-known figures have adopted strategies to simplify their daily routines. For example, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg is famous for wearing the same style of gray T-shirts to minimize unnecessary choices. Similarly, Nobel Prize-winning physicist Albert Einstein was known for owing multiple identical suits to avoid wasting energy on deciding what to wear each day. In a different context, author Haruki Murakami has shared that he maintains a strict daily routine, including specific writing hours and exercise, to free up mental capacity for his creative work. Understanding decision fatigue can help us structure our lives more effectively. Prioritizing important decisions earlier in the day or setting up routines to minimize unnecessary choices are strategies to preserve mental energy. By managing our mental resources wisely, we can make sound decisions and reduce the stress associated with overwhelming choices32.What leads to decision fatigue according to the text?A.The lack of time to make decisions.B.The difficulty of making logical choices.C.The stress from making important decisions.D.The limited mental energy for decision-making.33.What does the study on parole hearings reveal?A.Judges are much stricter after long breaks.B.Decision fatigue can lead to unfair outcomes.C.Fatigue causes judges to avoid complicated cases.D.External factors have no impact on decision-making.34.What does the author suggest readers shopping online do?A.Make quick decisions. B.Compare different products.C.Limit the number of choices. D.Choose the most popular products.35.What is the purpose of adopting routines?A.To reduce the stress of daily work. B.To increase decision-making quality.C.To enhance overall life satisfaction. D.To create more decision-making chances【答案】32.D 33.B 34.C 35.B【导语】本文是一篇说明文。 根据第一段中“It is caused by the limited mental energy we have for making choices each day. 根据第二段中“Researchers found that judges were more likely to approve of parole early in the day or after a meal break. As the day progressed and the judges made more decisions, they were increasingly likely to maintain their previous decisions, denying parole simply because it required less mental effort. 根据第三段中“Similarly, too many choices, such as when looking through streaming platforms or online stores, can leave individuals feeling confused, leading them to abandon the process entirely or settle for a less satisfying option. 根据最后一段中“Prioritizing important decisions earlier in the day or setting up routines to minimize unnecessary choices are strategies to preserve mental energy. A 2021 report from Habitat for Humanity International found that SDG 11.1 was actually regressing. We are seeing stagnation instead of progress toward the goal.Governments must prioritize adequate housing, especially for those struggling to survive in today’s overcrowded settlements. 36 Here are three steps that governments — and leaders in both the public and private sectors — can take to alleviate this growing housing crisis:1. Prioritize land tenure (占有) securityEnsure residents of informal settlements have secure rights to the land they inhabit. This has already happened on a large scale in countries such as Honduras, where civil society organizations and governments came together to form diverse commissions that developed policy recommendations around housing and land, negotiating approval of the recommendations and then monitoring their implementation. 37 .2. 38 For residents of Freetown’s informal settlements and countless other cities, traditional avenues of housing finance are simply not accessible. 39 They exhibit similar characteristics to traditional mortgage loans, but their smaller size helps make them more accessible to families with lower incomes.3. Strengthen climate-resilient housing 40 .The public and private sectors can work together to support and invest in community start-ups specializing in low-cost, climate-resilient homes and locally sourced building materials. For example, an NGO based in Sierra Leone, Home Leone, has over the past 5 years been developing affordable housing utilizing low-cost construction techniques, and providing facilities to meet the basic needs of communities and an integrated approach to housing development for low-income communities. We must act now to pave a stronger foundation for the more than 10 billion people expected to inhabit our cities by 2050. This starts with the urgent improvement of housing in rapidly expanding informal settlements worldwide. This long-overdue investment will more than pay for itself by building more prosperous and equitable communities for generations to come.A.Expand finance for housingB.Revolutionize mortgage loansC.Informal settlements are highly vulnerable to the impacts of climate changeD.That means increasing financial commitments by an order of magnitude and making meaningful policy changes.E.But the situation has changed a lot.F.Through their technical assistance, more than 1 million people have improved access to their land rightsG.Microloans offer hope by providing individuals with the means to access capital for housing improvements and upgrades.【答案】36.D 37.F 38.A 39.G 40.C【导语】这是一篇说明文。 36.根据上文“Governments must prioritize adequate housing, especially for those struggling to survive in today’s overcrowded settlements.(各国政府必须优先考虑足够的住房,尤其是为那些在当今拥挤的定居点中挣扎求生的人提供足够的住房。)” 增加住房就意味着更多的财政投入,可推理出下文说的是与财政投入的增加有关的话题,与D项“That means increasing financial commitments by an order of magnitude and making meaningful policy changes.(这意味着将财政承诺增加一个数量级,并做出有意义的政策改变)”表达的含义一致,故选D项。37.根据上文“Ensure residents of informal settlements have secure rights to the land they inhabit.(确保非正规住区的居民对其居住的土地享有安全的权利。)”可知此处上下文说的是与保障居民所居住的土地安全有关的话题,与F项“Through their technical assistance, more than 1 million people have improved access to their land rights(通过技术援助,100多万人改善了获得土地权利的机会)”表达的含义一致,故选F项。38.根据下文“For residents of Freetown’s informal settlements and countless other cities, traditional avenues of housing finance are simply not accessible.(对于弗里敦非正规定居点和无数其他城市的居民来说,传统的住房融资渠道根本无法获得。)” 39.根据下文“They exhibit similar characteristics to traditional mortgage loans, but their smaller size helps make them more accessible to families with lower incomes.(它们表现出与传统抵押贷款相似的特征,但较小的规模有助于低收入家庭更容易获得这些贷款。)”可知此处上下文说的是与小额贷款有助于解决问题有关的话题,与G项“Microloans offer hope by providing individuals with the means to access capital for housing improvements and upgrades.(小额贷款为个人提供了获得住房改善和升级资金的途径,从而带来了希望。)” 40.根据下文“The public and private sectors can work together to support and invest in community start-ups specializing in low-cost, climate-resilient homes and locally sourced building materials.(公共和私营部门可以合作,支持和投资社区初创企业,专门从事低成本、气候适应性强的住房和当地采购的建筑材料。)”可推理出上文解释了为什么要支持从事气候适应性强的住房的初创企业,与C项“Informal settlements are highly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change(非正规住区极易受到气候变化的影响)”表达的含义一致,故选C项。 Participating in the school sports meet’s 1500-meter race was an 41 journey that tested my limits in every stride. Unlike most of his peers, who were fascinated by the latest videos and social media trends, Noah had a passion for drawing. He would sit for hours, pencil in hand, sketching (画索描) scenes from his surroundings, giving life to moments and characters from his vivid imagination.Noah’s love for drawing had begun in early childhood. His grandmother, who had been an artist in her youth, had always encouraged him to express himself through art. Through her gentle guidance, Noah learned not just the technical aspects of drawing but the power of art to convey emotions, to tell stories and to touch others. One autumn afternoon, as leaves fell down the city streets, Noah spotted a stray (走失的) dog curled up beside an abandoned cardboard box outside his school. It was a small and thin creature with eyes that looked tired, almost defeated. Most people rushed past without a second glance, but Noah felt an ache in his chest. He had always been drawn to the overlooked and forgotten, and this little dog was no exception. For days, Noah would stop by the dog after school, bringing bits of food he managed to take from his own lunch. Gradually, the dog, whom he started calling Rusty, began to trust him. Rusty would press his nose against Noah’s hand each day, a small but meaningful gesture of appreciation. Their quiet companionship became a part of Noah’s routine, a special bond that no one else knew about. One rainy morning, Noah noticed something unsettling as he approached the school gate: The place where Rusty usually lay was empty. Rusty was nowhere to be found. He tried to focus on his classes, but his mind kept wandering to the missing dog. By the end of the school day, unable to bear the thought of Rusty alone and cold, he decided to take action. Determined to find Rusty, Noah started sketching._____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________After several days of searching and waiting, Noah finally received a call._____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________【答案】范文Paragraph 1: Determined to find Rusty, Noah started sketching. He began to sketch the scenes of their encounters, capturing the little dog’s frail form and tired eyes with meticulous detail. Noah posted his sketches on community bulletin boards, hoping that someone would recognize the dog and provide a clue to his whereabouts. He even created a simple flyer with Rusty’s description and his contact information, distributing them around the neighborhood. He would not rest until Rusty was back in his arms.Paragraph 2: After several days of searching and waiting, Noah finally received a call. It was a rainy evening when Noah’s phone rang, breaking the silence of his room. On the other end of the line was a woman with a soft voice, telling him she had seen a dog matching Rusty’s description near the old park. Without wasting a moment, he grabbed his umbrella and rushed out into the rain. The park was desolate and wet, but Noah’s eyes scanned every corner, searching for that familiar face. And there, under a leaky shelter, was Rusty, shivering but still wagging his tail when he saw Noah. The two were reunited in an embrace that spoke volumes of relief and joy.【导语】本文以人物为线索展开,讲述了诺亚有绘画天赋,某天他遇到了一只流浪狗,有好几天,放学后,诺亚会顺便去看狗,把他从自己的午餐里偷出来的一些食物带回来。 词汇激活行为类①提供:provide/offer②张贴:post/put up③看见:see/spot/catch sight of情绪类①希望:hoping that.../with the hope that...②快乐:joy/happiness【点睛】【高分句型1】He would not rest until Rusty was back in his arms.
