Students will be able t write a letter giving advice n rules.

Students will understand the imprtance f rules in different cultures and scieties.

Students will develp their reading and writing strategies, such as skimming, scanning, and rganizing ideas.

Students will realize the significance f fllwing reasnable rules and learn t express their feelings and needs apprpriately.

1. Teaching key pints
The crrect usage f mdal verbs "can", "have t / must", and "can't / mustn't" in different cntexts.
Understanding the main idea and details f the reading passage.
Writing a reply letter with apprpriate advice.
2. Teaching difficult pints
Distinguishing the subtle differences in meaning and usage amng the mdal verbs.
Expressing persnal pinins and giving reasnable advice n rules.

四、Teaching Prcedures
Step 1: Warming-up (5 minutes)
1. Greet the students and have a free talk abut rules.
Ask students: D yu have any rules at hme r at schl? What are they?
Invite several students t share their answers and lead int the tpic f tday's lessn.
Step 2: Pre-reading (5 minutes)
1. Present the title "N Rules, N Order" and ask students t predict what the passage might be abut.
2. Shw sme pictures related t rules at hme and at schl and ask students t describe them using the wrds and phrases they knw.
Step 3: While-reading (15 minutes)
1. Fast reading
Ask students t read the letter in 2a quickly and find ut the main prblem f Eric.
After reading, invite a student t summarize the main idea.
2. Careful reading
Ask students t read the letter again carefully and cmplete the blanks with the crrect mdal verbs "can", "have t / must", r "can't / mustn't".
Check the answers tgether and explain the usage f each mdal verb in the cntext.
Ask students t underline the rules mentined in the letter and discuss in pairs why these rules might be imprtant.
Step 4: Pst-reading (10 minutes)
1. Grup discussin
Chse three imprtant rules frm 2a and ask students t discuss the questins in 2b with a partner.
After the discussin, invite several grups t share their pinins and advice.
2. Writing practice
Ask students t write a reply t Eric as Dr. Knw, giving him sme advice. Remind them t use the mdal verbs crrectly and rganize their ideas lgically.
Prvide sme useful expressins and sentence structures n the blackbard t help students.
Step 5: Presentatin and Feedback (5 minutes)
1. Invite sme students t read their replies alud and display them n the screen.
2. Encurage ther students t give cmments and suggestins.
3. Prvide psitive feedback and crrectin fr the students' writings.
Step 6: Summary and Hmewrk (5 minutes)
1. Summarize the key pints f this lessn, including the usage f mdal verbs and the imprtance f rules.
2. Assign hmewrk: Ask students t rewrite their reply letters after class and share them with their parents r friends.
