B. 短语精讲(6mins)
1. be likely to 很可能……,有希望……
(1)It is likely+that从句. 很有可能……。
not likely 绝不可能,绝对不会
(2)unlikely adj. 不大可能发生的
be likely/unlikely to… 很可能/不可能……;有/没有希望……
【名师点津】
likely 前面通常被very,more 和less修饰,分别表示“很有可能”“更有可能”和“不太可能”。

事实上,女性患高血压或死于心脏病的概率更小。

C. 句法分析(4mins)
(教材P26)Not all cultures greet each other the same way, nor are they comfortable in the same way with touching or distance between people.各种文化背景下人们互致问候的方式不尽相同, 身体接触和相互间距离的程度也并不一样。
neither/nor置于句首时, 其后的句子要用倒装语序, 常将助动词、情态动词或连系动词提到主语之前, 表示前面所说的否定情况也适用于后者,意为“前者不……;后者也不……”。
(1)如果表示前面所说的肯定情况也适用于后者,即“前者……;后者也……”, 则须用so放在句首的倒装, 即“so+be/助动词/情态动词+主语”。
(2)如果前面有两个分句, 或者既有肯定又有否定, 要用“So it is with…”或“It's the same with…”句型。

(1)Mary never does any reading in the evening, nor does Jane.
玛丽晚上从不看书,简也不看。
(2)He isn't a doctor, nor/neither is his brother.
他不是医生,他的哥哥也不是。
(3)—I have been to Beijing.

5分钟自由记忆单词后和同桌进行PK
规则:两人轮流说出任意一个所学英语单词,对方应快速说出对应中文意思,说对中文意思可积一分,说出一条用法积两分。即:Student A说出一个英文单词,student B答,然后student B说单词,student A答,如此反复,分高者获胜,剩余时间整理今日所学内容。
(注意互相分享词汇记忆的方法,具体到某个单词的形象记忆也可以)

【课后拓展】
1. 不同的“方式,方法”
表达“用……方法/方式”,用approach,manner,method,means和way表示时,其所用介词有所不同。学习过程中注意对比归纳记忆。
(1)approach常与介词to连用,an approach to意为“……的方法”;
(2)in a/an…manner意为“用……的方式”;
(3)with this method意为“用这种方法”;
(4)by means of意为“用……的方式”;
(5)in this way意为“用这种方法,这样”;by this way 意为“通过这种方式”。
2. defend,guard与protect
(1)defend “保卫,防御”,应用范围很广,对象可以是具体的,也可以是抽象的。
(2)guard “保卫,自卫”,指注意观察、戒备,以免受到可能的攻击或伤害。
(3)protect “保护”,指以免遭受危险或伤害等。
3. likely, possible与probable
(1)likely其主语是人是物都可以。其常用句式是:It is likely that…或Sb be likely to do sth。
(2)possible表示客观上的可能性。其常用句式是:It is possible (for sb) to do sth.或It is possible+that 从句.
(3)probable表示主观上的猜测,但可能性很大。其常用句式是:It is probable+that 从句.
