Doctors in hospital emergency rooms often see accidental poisonings. A frightened parent arrives with a child who swallowed a cleaning liquid. Or perhaps the harmful substance is a medicine. Or it might be a product meant to kill insects. These are common causes of accidental poisonings.
In cases like this, seek medical help as soon as possible. Save the container of whatever caused the poisoning. And look for information about anything that stops the effects of the poison in the container. Save anything expelled from the mouth of the victim. That way, doctors can examine it.
Millions of people know how to give abdominal thrusts (腹部按压) to save a person choking on something trapped in the throat. The American Red Cross says a rescuer should first hit the person on the back five times between the shoulder bones. If the airway is still blocked, the Red Cross suggests pushing hard five times on the victim’s abdomen. You can do these abdominal thrusts by getting directly behind a sitting or standing person.
The Mayo Clinic’s health centers suggest several steps if bleeding is severe. First, if possible, remove dirt from the wound and press it with a clean cloth or piece of clothing. In the past, people were advised to stop severe bleeding with a tourniquet (止血带). But experts now say tourniquets are dangerous because they can crush (压坏) blood passages and nerves. If a wound seems infected, let the victim rest. Physical activity can spread the Infection. Treat the wound with a mixture of salt and water until medical Help arrives.
To learn more about first aid, ask a hospital or an organization like the Red Cross or Red Crescent Society for information. Training may be offered in your area.
If you know first aid methods, you can be calmer and more helpful in case of emergency.

For art, the year 2115 will be one full of events. In May of that year in Berlin, the philosopher-artist Jonathon Keats' "century cameras'' — cameras with a 100-year-long exposure (曝光)time — will be brought back from hiding places around the city to have their results developed and exhibited Six months after that, the Future Library in Oslo, Norway, will open its doors for the first time, presenting 100 books printed on the wood of trees planted in the distant past of 2015.
As Katie Paterson, the creator of the Future Library, puts it: **Future Library is an artwork for future generations/' These projects, more than a century in the making, are part of a new wave of "slow art'' intended to push viewers and participants to think beyond their own lifetimes. They aim to challenge today's short-term thinking and the brief attention spans of modem consumers, forcing people into considering works more deliberately. In their way, too, they are fighting against modem culture — not just regarding money, but also the way in which artistic worth is measured by attention.
In a similar fashion, every April on Slow Art Day, visitors are encouraged to stare at five works of art for 10 minutes at a time — a tough task for the average museum visitor, who typically spends less than 30 seconds on each piece of art.
Like the Future Library, the century cameras are very much a project for cities, since it's in cities that time runs fastest and the pace of life is fastest. "Since I started living in a city, I've somehow been quite disconnected/' Anne Beate Hovind, the Future Library project manager, who described how working on the library drew her back to the pace of life she knew when she was growing up on a farm in her youth, told the Atlantic magazine.
12.What will NOT happen in2115 according to the first paragraph?
A.A camera which was produced 100 years ago will be exhibited.
B.The Future Library will be open to the public for the first time.
C.Photos with a 100-year exposure time will be developed and exhibited.
D.Books printed on the wood of trees planted in 2015 will be displayed.
13.What can we learn about people's attitude towards works of art nowadays?
A.They spend little time on works.
B.They pay more attention to works.
C.They spend much money on works.
D.They stare at works for 10 minutes at a time.
14.What is the purpose of the wave of slow art?
A.To advocate creating works of art slowly.
B.To protect works of art from being damaged.
C.To promote works of art for modern culture.
D.To encourage people to consider works more deliberately.
15.How does Anne Beate Hovind feel about the city life?
A.It's discouraging. B.It's awful.
C.It's busy. D.It's developed.

Are you suffering from FOMO—that is, Fear Of Missing Out? Research shows that a growing number of young people are with worrying reasons for their sleep and schoolwork.
16. You aren’t able to do your best unless you sleep well. Most experts agree that the optimum(最适宜)number of hours is eight, and this has been accepted as common sense for as long as I can remember. However, I was young once and know most of you get much less sleep than that.
I read an interesting article in a teachers’ magazine recently.17. Worryingly, the results showed that teenagers are facing a new problem. They may go to bed and get up at appropriate times, but a growing number are waking up in the middle of the night, not to use the bathroom or have a snack, but because of FOMO.
According to the article, the number of students waking up during the night to check social media is growing. Afraid of missing a comment or opportunity to take part in a chat, teenagers are waking at all times of the night, going online and getting involved.18.
Experts are worried about this growing trend and the report reveals some worrying statistics: 23% of 12 to 15-year-olds wake up nearly every night to use social media.19. One in third of the students are constantly tired and unable to function to their full capacity.
So I’d like to ask you to be responsible when it comes to social media. Switch off your devices at night. The world won’t end and your social media will be waiting to greet you in the morning!20..
A.But things are getting out of hand.
B.I give you my word that you won’t have missed anything important.
C.Another 15% wake up at night once a week for the same reason.
D.They did a study of 848 students in Wales.
E. FOMO is the fear that everyone else is having more fun and more excitement than you.
F. All happens when they should be sound asleep.
G. Everybody knows how important it is for students to get a good night’s sleep every night.
