阅读理解(2019·深圳中学月考)The English have a difficult and, generally speaking, dysfunctional (不协调的) relationship with clothes. Their main problem is that they have a desperate need for rules, and are unable to get along without them. This helps to explain why they have an international reputation for dressing in general very badly, but with specific areas of excellence, such as highclass men's suits, ceremonial costume, and innovative (革新的) street fashion. In other words, the English dress best when they are “in uniform”.You may be surprised that I am including “innovative street fashion” in the category of uniform. Surely the parrothaired punks (朋克摇滚乐迷) or the Victorian vampire Goths are being original, not following rules? It's true that they all look different and eccentric (奇特的) but in fact they all look eccentric in exactly the same way. They are wearing a uniform. The only truly eccentric dresser in this country is the Queen, who pays no attention to fashion and continues to wear what she likes, a kind of 1950s fashion, with no regard for anyone else's opinion. However, it is true that the styles invented by young English people are much more eccentric than any other nation's street fashion. We may not be individually eccentric, apart from the Queen, but we have a sort of collective eccentricity, and we appreciate originality in dress even if we do not individually have it.Another “rule” of behavior I had discovered was that it is very important for the English not to take themselves too seriously, to be able to laugh at themselves. However, it is well known that most teenagers tend to take themselves a bit too seriously. The Goths, in their scaring black costumes, certainly look as if they are taking themselves seriously. But when I got into conversation with them, I discovered that they too had a sense of humor. I was once chatting to a Goth in the full vampire costume — with a white face, deep purple lipstick, and black parrothair. I saw he was also wearing a Tshirt with “Goth”. “Why are you wearing that?” I asked. “It's in case you don't realize I'm a Goth,” he answered, pretending to be serious. We both burst out laughing. 1.What can we know about the English people?A.They need rules to dress well.B.They are in need of uniforms.C.They are creative in general.D.They lead the world trend. Their main problem is that they have a desperate need for rules, and are unable to get along without them. 2.Who is individually eccentric in dressing?A.A highclass man. B.A parrothaired punk.C.The Queen. D.The fashion innovator. The only truly eccentric dresser in this country is the Queen和 3.Which of the following can best describe the Goths?A.They dress badly.B.They dress in an amusing way.C.They are unable to laugh at the way they dress.D.They are less fashionable than the other English people. The Goths, in their scaring black costumes和...a Goth in the full vampire costume—with a white face, deep purple lipstick, and black parrothair. 4.What may be the best title for the text?A.How the English DressB.How the English Admire FashionC.Why the English Like UniformsD.Why the English Are Eccentric in Dress答案:A解析:标题判断题。 Ⅱ.阅读填句(2019·山东省实验中学模拟)It's hard to say no to the joys of travel and travel is a pretty loved experience. __1__. And it's not always easy to make time for it. If you're longing to travel but it's not in the cards in your future, here's what to do in the meantime.__2__Travel is pretty expensive. We can plan, and planning is a big part of the enjoyment we get from travel, anyway. __4__.Breakout of your everyday routineTravel is fun for a lot of reasons. However, when you get down to it, it's really about novelty. We get to see some new places. __5__. I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family I couldn't do anything.Shane, a sixyearold in the family, seemed so calm, petting the old dog __2__ the last time. I wondered if he understood what was __3__ (go) on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away. The little boy seemed to accept the fact without any difficulty __4__ confusion. We sat together for a while after __5__ (Belker) death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal __6__ (life) are shorter than human lives.Shane, who had been listening quietly, said, “I know why.” We all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next surprised me __7__ (great). I'd never heard a __8__ (much) comforting explanation. It has changed the way I try and live.“People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life — like loving everybody all the time and __9__ (be) nice, right?” The sixyearold continued, “Well, dogs already know __10__ to do that, so they don't have to stay as long.” for the last time为固定搭配,意为“最后一次”。故填for。 故填or。 故填more。 根据句中的并列连词“and”可知,此处应与“and”前的“loving everybody”一致,故用“being nice”,表示并列。故填being。 根据语境及句式可知,上文中的“People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life”与本句中的“dogs already know __10__ to do that...”相呼应,“to do that”指代上文中的“to live a good life”,故此处应用how构成“疑问副词+不定式”结构,表示如何过上好生活。故填how。Ⅳ.短文改错(2019·山东邹城一中月考)Last month, I went to the mountain village which my grandparents live. It has been five years until I last went there. Great changes have been taken place in the past five years. Hardly had I got off the bus than a high water tower came into my eyes. Now villagers can drink freshly water. Villagers no long use firewood as fuel. Marsh gas, a new type of cheap clean energy, make it very convenient to cook and light. As impressed me most was that the best building in the village is the school. There all children can receive good education. I was greatly shocking to see all the changes in the countryside. I believe the villagers will have better life in the future. It has been five years看,这里表达“自从我上次去那里到现在已经5年了。”3. 4.than→when 考查固定搭配。 What impressed me most为主语从句,因此不可以用as来引导。 Dear_Mr_Smith,I'm_Li_Hua,_chairman_of_students'_union_in_our_school._We_are_very_pleased_to_learn_that_you_are_coming._Please_allow_me_to_tell_you_what_we_have_arranged_for_your_visit._In_the_morning,_we_will_introduce_Chinese_painting_art_to_you_and_invite_you_to_experience_the_traditional_art_form._At_noon,_we_want_to_ask_you_to_try_the_local_foods,_a_good_chance,_we_think,_to_get_some_ideas_of_the_local_customs_and_a_good_opportunity_to_know_each_other._If_you_like,_our_school's_drama_club_will_perform_the_local_opera_for_you._We_are_eager_to_know_if_our_arrangements_will_satisfy_you.Looking_forward_to_your_reply_soon.Yours,Li Hua
