Friday and Saturday were full of surprises for Chinese, As two places in China were listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites. The first, a World Natural Heritage, is composed of a series of migratory bird sanctuaries(候鸟保护地) along the coast of the Yellow Sea in Yancheng, East China’s Jiangsu Province The second、the Liangzhu Archacological Site in Hangzhou, East China’s Zhejiang Province, was listed as a World Cultural Heritage site:
China began the application process for the bids sanctuaries in 2017.It only look two years to successfully complete the process. The reason the migratory bird sanctuary application was successful is because of the special geographical category of the area. It is the largest intertidal mud flat seashore in the world、The success of this application marks the beginning of China’s world natural heritage from land to sea. The migratory bird sanctuaries are the central node(节点) of the East Asian-Australasian Flyway and many endangered species、especially threatened migratory birds including red-crowned cranes and flamingos、go there to hunt for food during the migration season. The birds usually take a month to finish their migration. At about IO days into their migration、they must stop and find food in order to have the energy to continue their journey.
Compared to the short turnaround for the World Natural Heritage's application, the Liangzhu application was far more complicated. The application team spent six years making their dream a reality. A lot of archaeological work had to be carried out for the Liangzhu site, which means the application and assessment process takes a longer time. The site in Liangzhu is evidence of the existence of an early regional state in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River during the late Neolithic period(新石器时代) in China、which helps fill in the gaps in the history of the rice-cultivating civilizations of China and East Asia more than 5,000 years ago. The site was one of the 20th century's most important archaeological discoveries in China:
With these two new additions, China now has 55.World Heritage sites , the highest number in the word. The successful application means greater responsibility and obligations(义务) .Protecting these places is much more important and is our future work. The new status of the migratory bird sanctuaries might boost local tourism industries but this too poses a change as local governments will need to control tourist volume so as not to impact the bids' migration patterns. Meanwhile, the sheer area that the Liangzhu Archaeological Site cover, some 14.3 square kilometers , makes protection a difficult issue to handle. Those workings at the site are busy constructing protective shelters for the site and even reburying certain areas to protect them from exposure. Pans a real sound r way to build a local museum for the storage and display of artifacts、so visitors can come and learn more about the history of the nation.
58.What is special about the migratory bird sanctuaries?

A. It shows the long history of China.
B. It proves the wisdom of the people.
C. It witnesses the civilization of an age.
D. It reveals the food of the late Neolithic.
60. What is the last paragraph mainly talking about?
A. The application success's promotion of tourism.
B. Chinese responsibilities after the successful application.
C. The two places' influence on Chinese history.
D. Chinese challenge of protecting birds' migration.

lf you are constantly told you're a genius, how would it affect your work? Would it make you work harder because you know your ability, or make you lazier because you know you're already ahead? Carol S. Dweck , a leading expert in motivation and professor at Stanford University, studies the effects that praise has on the mindset. In a series of studies, Dweck and her team experimented on400 fifth graders from different parts of the United States.
First, participants were given a series of puzzles to test their IQ. After they finished their test, they were told their scores and praised in different ways. One group was praised for their intelligence and was told, “You got x number correct. That's a really good score. You must be very smart”Another group was told, ”You must have worked really hard.”
The students were then given a choice as to what kind of test they would take next. They could either take one that's harder than the first, or one that's just as easy. A majority of the children who were praised for the intelligence chose to take the easier test, whereas 90% of those praised for their efforts chose to do the harder puzzles.
After ward, the researchers gave the students even harder tasks. They found the”smart kids”no longer enjoyed what they were doing and weren’t interested in pr acting the problem sets. However , the children with grit(毅力) believed hard work was all they needed and enjoyed the difficult puzzles, even if they couldn't always solve them.
While Dweck’s series of studies centered on children, it’s important to note how having a particular mindset can affect you at any age. As someone with a fixed mind set、you believe basic qualities一like intelligence-are fixed traits since you are often praised for your intelligence, you want to continue remaining intelligent in eyes of others so you shy away from challenges. You think failure is a personal attack on your intelligence, so you don't recover as easily when goals go wrong.
On the other hand, as someone with a growth mindset, you believe the harder you try, the more you'll improve. You're not afraid of taking risks, even if there's a big chance you’II all fall flat on your face along the way. You believe your experiences will form new connections that will make you smarter. According to Dweck , those with a growth mindset have a higher chance of success in life.
“More and more researchers support the growth mindset, ”she writes in the journal Education Leadership. “Fundamental aspects of intelligence can be improved through learning .and dedication and persistence in the face of obstacles are key ingredients in outstanding achiements”
61. Dweck conducted the experiment because she wanted to
A. work out a more accurate IQ test
B. study people's reaction to difficulties
C. find out how praise affects people's thoughts
D. study how intelligence and effort are connected
62.Ae cording to the passage, people with a fixed mindset
A. tend to avoid challenges
B. are more likely to be successful
C. are often made fun of by others
D. tend to improve intelligence through learning
63. The underlined phrase “fall flat on your face” in Paragraph 6 probably means“
A. ignore other's opinions B. hide your true feelings
C. fall over on the gre und D. suffer a complete defeat
64.What can be concluded from the passage?
A. Challenges often make people brave.
B. Great efforts matter much on the way to success.
C.A person's attitude towards work can change with time.
D. People with a higher IQ are more likely to work hard.
D
Looking back on too many years of education, I can identify one truly impossible teacher. She cared about me, and my intellectual life, even when I didn't. Her expectations were high—impossibly so. She was an English teacher. She was also my mother.
When good students turn in an essay, they dream of their instructor returning it to them in exactly the same condition, save for a single word added in the margin of the final page:“Flawless(完美无瑕的) ”This dream came true for me one afternoon in the ninth course, I had heard that genius could show itself at an early age, so I was only slightly astonished that I had achieved perfection at the age of 14.Obviously, I did what any professional writer would do; I hurried off to spread the good news. I didn’t get very far. The first person It old was my mother.
My mother is normally incredibly soft-spoken, but when she got angry, she was terrifying. I am not sure if she was more upset by my hubris(得意忘形) or by the fact that my English teacher had et my ego(自我价值感) get so out of hand. In any case, my mother and her red pen showed me how deeply flawed a flawless essay could be. At the time, I am sure she thoughts he was teaching me about transitions(过渡)structure、style and voice. But what l learned was a deeper lesson about the nature of creative criticism.
Creative criticism implies something about who is able to give it, who knows you well enough to show you how your mental life is getting in the way of good writing. They are also the people who care enough to see you through this painful realization.○1
I was lucky enough to find a critic and teacher who was wiling to make the journey of writing with me. It is a thing of no great difficulty, according to Plutarch, ”to raise objections against another man’s speech, it is a very easy matter but to produce a better in its place is a work extremely troublesome. Perhaps Plutarch is suggesting something a bit closer to Marcus Cicero’s cam that one should “criticize by creation, not by finding fault” Genuine criticism creates a precious opening for an author to become better on his own terms一a process that is often extremely painful, but also almost always meaningful.
○2My mother said she would help me with my writing, but first l had to help myself For each assignment、I was to write the best essay I could. Real criticism is not meant to find obvious mistakes, so if she found any一the type I could have found on my own—l had to start from scratch. From scratch. Once the essay was”flawless, she would take an evening to walk me through my errors.③
She criticized me when I included little-known references and professional jargon(行话) .She had no patience for brilliant but irrelevant figures of speech. Somewhere along the way I set aside my hopes of writing that flawless essay. ○4 But perhaps I missed something important in my mother's lessons about creativity and perfection. Perhaps the point of wring the flawless essay was not to give up, but to never willingly finish. Whitman repeatedly reworked”Song of Myself”between 1855 and 1891.Repeatedly.We do our absolute best with apiece of writing, and come as close as we can to the ideal. And , for the time being, we settle. In criticism, however, we are forced to depart, to give up the perfection we thought we had achieved for the chance of being even at little bit better. This is the lesson I took from my mother:If perfection were possible, it would not be motivating.
65. What can we learn from the second paragraph?
A. The author performed perfectly as a professional writer.
B. The author didn't think he was good at writing a flawless essay.
c. The author never dreamed of his essay being marked as “flawless”
D. The author was not much surprised at his essay being marked as “flawless”.
66. What does the underlined sentence in Paragraph 3 mean?
A. The author's mother taught him about the structure of a perfect essay•
B. The author's mother pointed out lots of faults in his seemingly perfect essay.
C. The author's mother taught him how to leave a lasting mark on the essay•
D. The author's mother underlined the important style and voice in his essay.
67.About the interpretation of Plutarch's words , the author probably agrees that
A. giving constructive criticisms an easy matter
B.criicizing someone is painful and meaningless
c. finding fault is better than coming up with a better work
p. criticizing someone's speech is easier than coming up with a better one
68 .Where can the following sentence most probably be put?
That was when true criticism, the type that changed me as a person, begun.
A① B.② C.③ D.④
69. Which of the following word can best describe the author's mother?
A. generous and strict B. demanding and caring

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, Americans throwaway 16.22 million tons of clothing in 2014, 71% more than in 2000 and 822%more than in 1960.On the positive side, the amount of clothing recycled has increased from 3% in1960 to 16% in 2014, but the sheer volume(量) outweighs these gains. Moreover , it is believed that between 2009 and 2030, population growth and industrialization in emerging(新兴的) markets will lift an additional 3 billion people to the global middle class. A booming middle class means more money to spend and growing demand for goods and services.
The fashion industry leaves a significant footprint on people, land and water. The clothing industry employs approximately 60 million people worldwide, but its wage level is low. Cotton farming uses between 2.4% and 2.6% of global arable(可耕种的) land, but is responsible for 24% of pesticides(杀虫剂) .It also uses a huge amount of water一to grow enough for a cotton T-shirt requires 713 gallons-and improper irrigation techniques have caused considerable damage.
Luckily, many companies are using technological innovation to go green. Just a few examples:Modern meadow will show leather made from yeast(酵母) soon; and Thread International supple s cloth made from discarded(被丢弃的) plastic bottles. Also some companies are testing new, innovative business models that could address clothing consumption. Companies like the renewal workshop divert(转移)clothing from the landfill(垃圾场) and remakes it into renewed clothing; Patagonia's Worn Wear program takes back their clothes, fix them if necessary, and resell them.
Though the technological innovations and circular economy models described above are important, we don’t have proper ways to measure their benefits. On their own, they probably are not enough to solve the industry's sustainability problems. We need to develop a useful definition that considers what sustainability means for brands, manufacturers, retailers(零售商) and consumers. We need to know the carbon footprint of the entire industry. Fstimates range from 330 million to 832 million tons of carbon dioxide annually for clothing production, enough to heat and power between 31.6 million and 79.7 million homes for a year.Wealso need to know how much waste we are creating and how to deal with it all, One study estimated between 40.000 and 120.000 square kilometers of cloth pieces are leftover from manufacturing(制造业)each year.
In a word. understanding the environmental impacts of clothing industry is extremely important if the industry is to develop.Ene our aging ash in buses s mode smut make sense financially for the company as well as environmentally and socially. So is necessary to create a set of self-assessment tools that standardize how clothing companies measure their environmental and social impacts.

Possible version:
Recently, due to the influence of the popular film Better Days and media reports, school bullying has caught the public’s eyes again. China’s education authorities demanded schools and the departments concerned should make joint efforts.
Several factors give rise to the severe situation of school bullying. Firstly, many media online expose teenagers to negative information, especially concerning violence, which will be rooted in children’s heart and mislead them to bully others. Additionally, children’s lack of proper education is responsible for their ignorance of law and indifference to others’ feelings.
Personally, there is no simple solution to school bullying. Above all, the government should shoulder the responsibility to strengthen supervision and impose severe punishment on such behavior. Meanwhile, teenagers are expected to enhance their awareness of self-protection and never give in to bullying.
If we can put the above into action effectively, chances are that school bullying will be nowhere to be found.

M: Please lie back, madam. I am going to clean your teeth now.
W: Wait! I have never been here before. I want to ask one or two questions.
M: Very well. What would you like to know?
W: Well, what are you going to do there?
M: I will start by spraying this water gently in your mouth while I clean the bits of food and

M: You watch too much TV. Turn it off!
W: But this is my favorite show! I’ve been waiting all day for it to come on.
M: How many hours do you think you’ve watched today?
W: Well, let’s see. I started watching at 11:00 this morning, and it’s 6:00 now...so 7 hours.
M: That’s the entire afternoon! You mean that you haven’t left the sofa for the whole day?
W: No,of course I did. I had to go to the bathroom and get stuff to eat...
M: Don’t your eyes hurt?
W: No,not really.
M: It’s so bad for you to watch that much TV. You should read a book or get outside. Use your
brain. Get some fresh air.
W: I don’t like fresh air, and I don’t like to use my brain. And I read a lot, just not when my show is on.
M: You’re wasting your life sitting in front of the TV when you could be doing so many other
things. Why don’t you call up a friend and go downtown?
W: No, I just went there last week. Just leave me alone, OK? I can’t hear the TV when you’re
talking to me,and this is the best part of the show!
M: You’ve gotten ten more minutes, and then I’m coming in and turning that thing off.

Pablo Picasso was a Spanish painter, writer, and poet. He was born in 1881 and died in 1973. Although he was born in Spain, he spent most of his adult life in France. He was one of the greatest and most influential artists of the 20th century, and is known for co-founding the Cubist movement of abstract painting. In his early years, Picasso demonstrated extraordinary artistic talent. He began painting in a realistic style, but as he got older, he started to experiment with different techniques and ideas. His work is often categorized into periods. Two of the most famous periods in his work are the Blue Period and the Rose Period, which lasted from 1901 to 1906. Picasso died in France when he and his wife were entertaining friends for dinner. His wife ended her own life ten years later. One of his most famous paintings is titled Guernica, which he made in 1937. It portrays the bombing by the Germans and Italians during the Spanish Civil War. Nowadays, people visit museums all over the world just to see Picasso’s paintings. Every time his works go on sale, they sell for millions of dollars.
