     Life at an American high school is an interesting and exciting learning experience.High school in America is not just a place for studying some subjects.It is also an important social centrewhere students can develop other interests and talents.

     

    The high school course is divided into four years.A school year is divided into two semestersthe first of which is September through Decemberand the second January through May. American students have a LONG summer vacationSchool usually starts at about 800 amand ends at about 300 pm.There's no class on Saturday.

     

    Each student at the school has their own locker for books and personal items. It is a convenience to save students from carrying textbooksand allow students a small space they can decorate with posters and favourite objects.

     

    When the school day endssome students go homebut many still stay at school for after­school activities.There are many activities to take part in and clubs to join.With the headmaster's agreementstudents can start any kind of club that is educational and fun.

     

    American high school students like to be popular.This means being a good studentbeing active in the community and being well­liked by others.Popular students are elected to take part in the Students' Union.

     

    Most American high school students have a part­time job during the school year and a full­time job during the summer holiday.Parents also encourage their children to work because it's part of growing up and becoming more responsible and more independent.

    I've never posted a story before. However, upon graduating from UC Berkeley, with as much financial support as my family could muster (聚集), I now feel the need to thank my sister Mollie.

    This probably sounded crazy, but I had completely forgotten that she was saving up for her own college education and making a sacrifice so that I could finish the last year of mine.

    I forgot because she never complained and actually had made a less than perfect situation enjoyable for herself. Mollie has no idea how much I respect her for her quiet generosity and for her ability to turn a negative experience into a positive one.

    The year was 2014. Val, my best friend, and I just left the university and we went to China together. We found our own jobs in two different cities in China. But we often met at weekends.
