    As the frceful king f Macednia(马其顿),Alexander the Great verthrew the Persian Empire,becming a her that wuld survive centuries after his death.


    Brn in 356 B. C.,Alexander Ⅲ was the sn f Philip Ⅱ and Olympias. Alexander's parents wanted him t receive the finest educatin,and arranged fr him t study under Aristtle,regarded as ne f the greatest schlars.


    Alexander's father was a strng leader. Philip Ⅱ built an impressive army and established the Macednian kingdm;he was even planning t attack Persia shrtly befre his death.


    In 336 B. C.,Philip Ⅱ was murdered by ne f his guards. Althugh it was bvius that the guard had a persnal hatred,there were clues that ther peple were related t it.


    After Alexander was cleared as a suspect,he succeeded his father withut ppsitin,and killed thse said t be respnsible fr his father's murder,as well as all rivals. He was then just 20 years ld. He then prepared t attack Persia.


    In the spring f 334 B. C.,Alexander led the army made up f nearly 50,000 sldiers int Asia,which is called “the mst pwerful military expeditin(远征) ever t leave Greece”. He sundly defeated the Persian army at the Granicus River,sending a strng message t Darius Ⅲ,leader f the Persian Empire.


    In 333 B. C.,Alexander faced Darius at Issus,a muntain pass. The Macednian army was greatly utnumbered but able t wrk the narrw muntain passageway t their advantage. Darius managed t escape. Cntinuing dwn the Mediterranean Cast,Alexander tk every city in his path.


    In 332 B. C. Alexander declared Egypt t be part f the Greek Empire and was crwned Pharah(法老).


    When Alexander left Egypt in 331 B. C.,he defeated the Persians again and was crwned leader f Asia.


    In 323 B. C.,hwever,Alexander develped a fever n the way back hme and died 10 days later at Babyln. He was just 33 years ld.

    My brther and I were alne at hme because my parents had gne fr a meeting and they had left me in charge. I was ding my hmewrk while my yunger brther was watching TV. Suddenly the drbell rang. My yunger brther rushed t the dr thinking that ur parents had cme hme, he unlcked the dr and pened it.


    Outside std a tall man wearing a black raincat and black rubber bts. He said he was a salesman and asked plitely if ut mther r father was at hme.


    Withut thinking, my brther said:” N.” He asked if we wuld like t buy sme cmic bks which he was selling. I quickly explained that we were nt suppsed t buy anything withut ur parent's permissin.


    Then, as I was abut t clse the dr, he frced his way int ur huse. He tk ut a knife and frced me t tie up my brther's hands with sme rpe which he tk ut frm his pcket. I tied up his hands but tied it in a special way s my brther culd untie himself. The man then tied my hands up and lcked bth f us in the kitchen.


    Sn, they went upstairs t search the bedrm fr valuables. I managed t teach my brther t untie the rpe n his hands. He then untied me. I rushed t the telephne t call the plice, but the line was dead. The drs were all lcked frm the utside and I did nt have the keys t unlck them. Luckily, the rbber frgt t lck the kitchen windw. My brther managed t get ut f the huse thrugh the windw and I tld him t g t the plice statin nearby and call fr help.注意:
