Step 1. Talk abut the weather with the students and ask “Wh is n duty tday?” Knw abut wh is n duty next time.
Step 2. Intrduce the tpic t the class.
Ask the class:
1. Why shuld yu spend s much time learning English?
2. Hw many peple speak Chinese in the wrld?
3. Hw many peple speak English in the wrld?
4. Why shuld s many cuntries use English?
Tell them if they dn’t knw the answers, it desn’t matter. What we will learn is abut the tpic?
Step 3.
Play a riddle: Yu answer me, althugh I never ask yu questins. What am I? (A telephne.) The teacher asks the questin: Can yu guess what we will learn in this text?

Make up a dialgue with a partner. Act ut a phne call between tw friends. One is in China; the ther is in the U.S. Try t use expressins yu learned in this lessn.
