    I. Teaching contentsWarming up and pre-reading

    II. Teaching aims

    1). To learn the history of the Olympic Games.

    2). Encourage students to love sport and do exercise everyday.

    3)To learn some words about sport.

    4)Know about Olympic Games.

    III. Key points & Difficulties

    Key points

    To master the words about sport.

    Difficulties

      Make a clear understanding of the simple history of the OlympicGames.

    IV. Teaching procedure:.

    Step I : Greetings

         The teacher greet the whole class.

    Step II: To show teaching aims.

    Step III: Lead-in

    1). Show some pictures and discriptions , let the students guess the sport that discrbled.

    Basketball;  Swimming;  volleyball;  shooting;   wrestling;  etc.

    2). Show sutdents some other sports pictures. Then let them to say something else about the sports events and learn sports words;

    hurdles  跳栏       bicycle race 自行车比赛   sailing  帆船    shooting  射击    swimming 游泳wrestling  摔跤  horse ridng骑马  boxing 拳击 fencing 剑术  weightlifting  举重 table tennis 乒乓球 10,000-metre race 万米赛跑diving  跳水   gymnastics  体操  rings 吊环  high bar  高单杠 side horse 鞍马double dars  双杠  free exercises 自由体操       skating  滑冰       skiing    滑雪     judo 柔道 

    Step IV: Warming up

      Pair work::  

       Students work in pairs and ask each other the questions in warming up.Then teacher share the answers with students.  Teachers should make sure the sudents make full use of exercise to ask each other in turns

       (Answers: 1 Olympia( Greece) 2. one (Greece)  3. slaves and women   4. Athens in 1896

    5. XuHaifeng for Shooting,  6. swifter; higher ; stronger;  7 .the five continents. 8 Fuwas. They are Beibei, the fish; Jingjing, the panda;Huanhuan, the Olympic flame; Yingying, the Tibetan antelope; and Nini, the swallow.  The first syllabes from their two-syllable names form a line that reads"Beijing Huanying Ni", or in English"Welcome to Beijing".)

    Step V. Pre-reading

    1. Asking and answering

    Now, please read the three questions before the Reading. Lets do it in turn. Lets begin from the first row hereok, you did a good job. Lets summarize your answers.

    (For reference:

    1. In Summer Olympics, there are running, swimming, shooting, wrestling, jumping, football, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, throwing, Javelin, weight lifting, gymnastics, boxing etc.

    In winter Olympics, there are skiing skating, ice hockey, ski jumping, sledding, snowboarding etc.

    2. The 30th Olympic Games will be held in Rio de Janeiro  Brazil.

    3. To hold the Olympic Games is a rich prize for a country. And it can make a country known in the world. It can stimulate the countrys economy, and help to speed up its development. )

    2. Imaging and introducing

    Please look at the three pictures in the reading. Please talk about them. Imagine whatever you can..

    (Students may have different answers)

    3. Talking and Sharing

    We know there are many differences and similarities about the ancient and modern Olympics. Do you know anything about them? You can simply guess.

    ( Give students several minutes to talk about freely)

    Step VI: Homework

    1. Read the new words and try to memorize bold words in this unit.

    2. Preview An Interview and complete exercise 1 on page 11. .
