I. Teaching aims:
- To do the listening exercises in this unit.
- Read the passage ANDY-THE ANDROID
- To master the following expressions:

Step 1 Revision
Check the answers to the homework
Step 2 Lead-in
- Talking about IT
Teacher with the students together to have wo talk about IT:
What is IT? (Information Technology)
Can you tell some ITs ?
( students share their answers)
Step 3 Listening
1) Listen to the whole text and try to write down the main idea in one sentence.
Two students are talking about information technology.
2). Listen for the second time and fill in the chart on exercise 3 with your partner
( Teacher had better play the listening materials one more times to make sure all the students can listen clearly)
3). Discussion:
What are the advantages and disadvantages of each form of IT?
In small groups discuss this question and put your ideas on to the chart. Then decide when each kind of IT is most useful.
Use the reasoning expressions on PPT 11—12 in your discussion.
Step 4. Reading
- Ask the students to read the text and find out what is Andy and it’s characters.
Andy is part of an android football team.
Andy is as big as a human. In fact, Andy looks like one too.
Andy is a striker on the football team.
Andy can run very fast.
Andy’s computer chips help him to move and think like a human.
2. Read the passage carefully and fill in the file for Andy in exercise 1 on page 23.
3. Create your own android. Fill in the file in exercise 2 and compare with your partner.
