    In 2002, scientist Lucy King and her team fund that elephants avid certain trees with bees living in them. Tday, Lucy wants t see if African hneybees might discurage elephants frm eating crps. But befre she asked farmers t g t the truble f setting up beehives n their farms, she needed t find ut if the bees wuld scare elephants away.
    Lucy fund a wild beehive inside a tree in nrthern Kenya and set up a recrder. Then she threw a stne int the beehive, which burst int life. Lucy and her assistant hid in their car until the angry bees had calmed dwn. Next, Lucy searched ut elephant families in Samburu Natinal Reserve in nrthern Kenya and put a speaker in a tree clse t each family.
    Frm a distance, Lucy switched n the pre­recrded sund f angry bees while at the same time recrding the elephants with a vide camera. Half the elephant grups left the area within ten secnds. Out f a ttal f 17 grups, nly ne grup ignred the sund f the angry bees. Lucy reprted that all the yung elephants immediately ran t their mthers t hide under them. When Lucy played the sund f a waterfall (瀑布) instead f the angry bees t many f the same elephant families,the animals were undisturbed. Even after fur minutes,mst f the grups stayed in ne place.
