I have frgtten the name f the ld lady, wh was a custmer (顾客) n my newspaper rute when I was twelve. Yet she taught me a lessn that I shall never frget.
On a winter afternn, a friend and I were thrwing stnes nt the rf f the ld lady's huse near her garden. I fund myself a perfectly smth rck and threw it. The stne was t smth, hwever, s it slipped (滑) frm my hand as I let it g and headed straight fr a small windw n the lady's dr. At the sund f brken glass, we knew we were in truble. We ran faster than any f ur stnes which flew ff her rf.
I was t scared abut getting caught that first night t be cncerned abut the ld lady with the brken windw in winter. Hwever, a few days later, when I was sure that I hadn't been discvered, started t feel guilty fr her truble. She still greeted me with a smile each day when I gave her the newspaper, but I was n lnger able t act cmfrtably when seeing her.
