    Lindsey Pllak,a US career cach wh wrks with Millennials(千禧一代),has als nticed that emticns have gne frm being inapprpriate fr the wrkplace t being accepted.The reasn behind this,accrding t her,is largely due t the changing f peple in a particular age grup f the wrkfrce.Millennials are nw the biggest generatin in the American wrkfrce.“A few years ag,emticns were abslutely seen as very yung and very persnal,”Pllak said,“Over the past few 've seen emticns becme mre acceptable.I see them mre frequently nt just frm Millennials but frm all generatins at the wrkplace.”
    “Peple tend t use emticns t just add that little bit f extra change in the tne when there's smething awkward r ptentially ffensive,r when they might take in things in the wrng way,”explains Lauren Cllister,a scilinguist.In life and wrk,many f us have used emticns t send psitive atmsphere r sften statements.
    Pllak,hwever,warns against being t casual at wrk.Her advice is t be aware f wh the audience is.“Frankly,I wuldn't use a happy face with any CEO in the US.I wuldn't use a happy face with the peple f a certain level n matter hw cmmnplace and acceptable it has becme,”she said,“Yu can make r break a relatinship with ne e­mail these days.”
