形容词最直接的作用是什么？

“fast”虽然是形容词，可是这里面说的是我能跑得快，这个“快”修饰的是“跑”，即修饰的是动词。类似的词我们称之为副词，副词最直接的作用就是修饰形容词和动词。

副词也可以以比较级、最高级的形式出现。
