We have recently heard sme interesting ways that 5G technlgy might change ur lives in the future. 5G prmises internet speeds between 50 t 100 times faster than the present 4G systems. The technlgy is als built t deal with many mre users withut slwing services dwn. Such imprvements are sure t be ppular fr 5G users wrldwide.
While 5G is set t start in sme limited areas f the United States this year, much f the rest f the wrld is nt expected t receive such service widely until 2023.
One prject called 5G Rural First in Britain, thugh, is already testing this superfast technlgy, but nt n humans. Instead, the experiment invlves an unlikely grup f internet users-cws. The system cnnects the animals t 5G in an effrt t autmate(自动化)the milking prcess.
Testing areas are set up at farms in three cuntries f England. The cws are fitted with 5G devices(装置)that cnnect t a rbtic milking system. The system uses sensrs(传感器)and machine learning t fully autmate the prcess. System designers say technlgy takes ver after a cw feels ready t be milked and walks tward an autmatic gate. The device is designed t recgnize each cw. It then sets machine t the right height fr milking. During the prcess, machines give fd t the cw in return.
In ne f the test areas, abut 50 f the farm's 180 cws are fitted with 5G smart devices and health-watching sensrs. Prject fficials say the devices d nt harm the cws and the sensrs allw farmers t immediately discver any prblems such as health prblems.
Other technlgy tls pwering the 5G smart farms include autmated brushes that turn n when the cw tuches them. Sensrs als cntrl the supply f light in the cws' living areas depending n the weather. And an autmatic feeding system makes sure the animals always get enugh t eat.
Nick Chrisss wrks n the prject. He said the system can cnnect every cw, and every ther animal n the whle farm. “That's what 5G can d fr farming—really free the pwer that we have within this farm, everywhere arund the United Kingdm, and everywhere arund the wrld.”
27. What's Paragraph 4 mainly abut?

Have yu ever gne t a fast-fd restaurant t eat and gtten a kid's meal that came with a ty? Smetimes thse meals have different tys fr bys and girls —maybe a truck fr the bys and a ty bear fr the girls. Wh decides that bys like t play with trucks and girls like t play with stuffed animals? I knw many bys wh like stuffed animals and lts f girls wh play with trucks. When we decide what smene will like r hw they will act just because they are bys r girls, we are steretyping(形成模式化观念).
A steretype is a grup that we put peple int. Our human brains d this all the time; it's ne f the ways that ur brain has learned t deal with the wrld. We see smene and put that persn int a grup—fr example, the ld r the yung, a by r a girl. Is that a bad thing? N, it's nt.
One advantage f a steretype is that it enables us t deal with situatins rapidly because we may have had a similar experience befre. The use f steretypes is a majr way in which we simplify ur scial wrld; since they cut dwn the amunt f prcessing(i.e. thinking)we have t d when we meet a new persn.
Althugh gruping itself isn't bad, it can be harmful smetimes. It makes us ignre differences between each single persn, that is, we usually think all the peple in ne grup are the same but that might nt be true.
When we steretype, we think f a grup and give everyne in that grup certain characteristics. Fr example, the fast fd restaurant believed that all bys like t play with vehicles and all girls prefer ty animals. They did that based nly n whether they were bys r girls.
Steretypes are prblems when beliefs that peple have abut grups are nt necessarily true. Have yu ever heard anyne say that "Men are better drivers than wmen"? Statements like this take a grup f peple and give all f them the same behavirs r characteristics. I knw men wh are gd drivers, and I knw wmen wh are gd drivers. It's nt fair t judge all peple in a grup by a steretype. We need t remember that everyne in the grup is an individual wh has different abilities, interests, strengths and behavirs.
30. The example f different tys fr bys and girls is mentined t shw that_________.

32. The underlined wrd “ignre” in Paragraph 4 prbably means _________.
A. fail t nticeB. fail t trustC. fail t searchD. fail t face
33. What des the writer want t tell us abut steretyping?

B. It helps ur brain learn t deal with similar situatins.

D. Trying t learn abut and frm sme kinds f them steretypes.

The biggest influence that technlgy has n family time is the change f it. Peple used t spend mre time with their family members befre. Nwadays, with children (and the parents, t) spending mre time texting, watching mvies and televisin, playing vide games, and listening t music, when will the family find time t bnd (培养感情) and create lasting memries tgether?
Far t ften we dn’t pay mre attentin t making time fr members f ur wn family. By the end f a lng day at wrk r schl, members f the family want t relax. And nw that technlgy use is widespread acrss the cuntry, nrmally ur “relaxing” is als knwn as spending time n smart phnes.
Nt nly is the amunt f family time affected (影响) by technlgy, but als the quality. Technlgy can affect the quality in different ways. Fr example, family members can be distracted (使分心) by their phnes while trying t play a bard game tgether, which wuldn't have happened if the phne didn’t exist in the first place.
If “family time” means everyne sitting in the same rm while playing nline, what value is there? Persnal interactin is key t time well spent with lved nes. Families dn’t even need t have smething t d while tgether. If they simply ask each ther hw their day is and play a simple game tgether, family bnds will get better.
When technlgy becmes a fcus, quality(有质量的) time fr families ges dwn, which in turn affects everyne’s life. Lack f family interactin causes the family’s unity t weaken, and each f the family will be influenced in different ways. Children are mre likely t develp unhealthy habits when they fail t interact with their parents. Meanwhile, parents wh put wrk befre family r pay less attentin t their children’s grwth are mre likely t face bad parent-child relatinship. 67 percent f American teens say they want t spend mre time with their parents, which is rather sad. Therefre, this passage is meant t shw hw technlgy has negatively influenced families.
27. Accrding t Paragraph 3, we can knw that technlgy__________.
A. makes us put wrk befre family B. affects the quality f family time
C. brings us cnvenience and happiness D. affects the family time in the same way

A. Simple games are helpful fr family bnds.
B. Families dn’t need t d anything tgether.
C. Persnal interactin is imprtant fr family time.
D. Staying in the same rm is necessary fr family.
29. What’s the writer’s attitude twards the technlgy influence?
A. Puzzled.B. Wrried.C. Surprised.D. Satisfied.

When I was in schl, ur classes were always divided int smaller grups fr reading guidance. These reading grups were named after animals. The high-achieving readers were knwn as the birds, and the kids with the mst difficulty were the mice.
I was a bird, and my best friend Bbby was a muse. I can still remember hw uncmfrtable it was t hear Bbby read sentences ut and he culd nly read several wrds in the sentence.
This is hw we usually think f a reading “prblem” — the inability t decde symbls(解码) and change them int spken language. Kids with this prblem are hard t miss. But there may be many ther kids in the classrm wh are als pr readers, but in a very different way that’s ften invisible. These kids read crrectly and fluently frm the page — they might even be birds — but they dn’t understand mst wrds frm their muths.
Charles Hulme and his team f Yrk University have been explring this hidden reading prblem, and they’ve cme t believe that it may be at its heart a spken language prblem.
In ne study, they fund 8- and 9-year-ld children wh had reading cmprehensin(理解) prblems. Then, sme gt help in reading and understanding written text, and thers gt nly help with spken language and still thers gt a mix f bth. They all gt 90 minutes f help every week fr 20 weeks, after which their skills were tested. They were als tested again almst a year later, t see if any imprvements existed.
All three grups shwed imprvements in cmprehensin sn after the training, but thse trained nly in spken language shwed great imprvements int the fllwing year — much mre than the thers. What’s mre, the imprvements frm the spken language training and the less imprvements frm a cmbined (融合的) way appeared t cme frm imprvements in vcabulary. In ther wrds, the spken language training seems t have resulted in a generalized imprvement in the kids’ ability t understand language.
Reading cmprehensin is imprtant fr success in life, mre than ever in histry. Reading difficulties create educatinal difficulties, which in turn lead t scial and ecnmic disadvantage, including jblessness. Kids wn’t be asked t read ut lud in the real wrld, but they will be expected t knw what they’ve read.
30. __________ are called “mice" in the writer’s class.
A. Students wh like animalsB. Students wh have gd scres
C. Students wh are in small grups D. Students wh d wrst in reading
31. What des the underlined wrd “invisible” prbably mean?
A. Cannt be tried.B. Cannt be seen.
C. Cannt be hidden. D. Cannt be taught.
32. What des the result f Charles Hulme’s research tell us?
A. Scientists shuld bserve lng-term influence.
B. A hidden reading disability have been explred.
C. Reading difficulties create educatinal difficulties.
D. Speaking training imprves cmprehensive ability.
33. Which is the best title fr the passage?
A. Is language training meaningful?
B. Is language training easy r nt?
C. Is reading cmprehensin a hard prblem?
D. Is reading cmprehensin a hidden disability?[]

behavir, the researchers said. As yu might imagine, a grup f mnkeys bathing in a ht spring meant
t hld peple made peple feel the ht spring dirty, s the park management built a new ht spring just
fr the mnkeys. By 2003, abut a third f the snw mnkeys living in this park ften bathed in the ht
spring in the winter. The bathing mnkeys are nw already a ppular turist attractin.
The bathing mnkeys seemed t be bathing t stay warm, but scientists had n data t supprt this
thery, they said. In the new study, the researchers cllected data frm 12 adult female mnkeys in
Jigkudani Mnkey Park between April and June, and again frm Octber t December. They examined
hw much time the mnkeys spent in the ht spring, and als studied the data fr “fecal gluccrticid” ,
a metblite(代谢物) , related t the levels f stress in mnkeys.
The researchers fund that female snw mnkeys did use the ht spring mre ften in the winter
than in the spring, especially during clder weeks.
The researchers als fund that the dminant (统领) females spent the mst time bathing because
they need mre energy t keep their psitin. They als have a higher level stress.
The researchers cncluded that ht-spring bathing becmes a traditin that prvides physilgical
(生理的) benefits t the mnkeys.
