Althugh the 69yearld writer is a very ppular literary figure in France, he is little knwn elsewhere.
S wh is this Patrick Mdian,why des his memry have such an influence upn him, and what exactly has he uncvered?
Mdian was brn in a suburb f Paris right after Wrld War Ⅱ ended in Eurpe in July 1945. His father was a JewishItalian businessman wh met his Belgian actress mther during the Nazi ccupatin f Paris.
As The New Yrker magazine put it, Eurpeans brn in 1945 share a cnditin-they escaped the war, but “nt the taint (污点)f the war”.
Mdian's life has been influenced by Nazi Germany's ccupatin during the war, and his family's cnnectins t it.
