As the students are talking abut the things they d, write the structure f past cntinuus tense ‘was/were +ding’ n the bard.
Design a scene: Last night at 8:00 there was a blackut in yur blck. The lights went ut all ver the blck. First, shw sme pictures, then let the students describe.
STEP 3 Paying attentin t uses f wrds
During the students describing the pictures, pay attentin t use ‘was’ and ‘were’ t cnslidate the past cntinuus tense.
STEP 4 Describing the picture
Describe the picture in general questins and give them psitive and negative answers. Practice in pairs. Write the tw kinds f answers n the Bb.

After finishing describing the nine pictures, practice the dialgue like this.

Practice in pairs. Let them chse any picture they want.
STEP 6 Cmpleting Part A1
Get the students t cmplete Part A1, Page 99. Check the answers in pairs and in class. Explain the main phrases in the dialgue e.g. ‘discuss … with…’ and ‘plan a trip t’. Get them t read the dialgue alud. Ask the students sme questin t ffer them mre chance fr practice.
STEP 7 Finishing the dialgue
Finish the dialgue in Part A2, and then check the answers. Explain sme the main phrases like ‘see…ding’ and ‘as usual’. Ask the students t clse the bk. Ask them sme questins abut this dialgue.
STEP 8 Hmewrk
Make a summary t what we learned tday. (Emphasize the adverbial f time.)Finish ff the exercises in the Evaluatin Handbk and Learning English.
