Step 1 Presenting
I will present the new lessn like this. As we have learnt, sme western peple believe a persn’s star sign is based n his r her birthday. They believe the star sign can tell us abut a persn’s character. Fr example, a persn brn under the sign f Pisces (between 20th Feb — 20th Mar) is generus, kind, gentle and easy – ging. A persn brn under Aries (between March 21 and April 20) is energetic and active.
In China, peple believe the Chinese hrscpe describes character and can fretell future events. In the Chinese hrscpe, there are twelve animals. A persn’s animal sign is cnnected t his r her birth year. Every animal has a different type f character. Peple brn in the year f the Rat are friendly. Thse brn in they year f the Mnkey are smart and gd at making mney. Many peple believe that the Rat and Mnkey are a gd match.
Millie wants t find ut what the Chinese hrscpe abut her this mnth. She is reading Master Zhang’s frecast. Nw read the frecast and help Millie cmplete her ntes as much infrmatin as pssible.
Step 2 Practicing
1. Ask students t read the advertisement then infrmatin in Millie’s ntes as they can. Remind them that they with nt be able t cmpete all the answers. The answers fr Ns. 3,5 and 6 are frm the advertisement.
2. I will play the tape nce withut stpping. If necessary, play the tape again, stpping after each answer r sentence s that students have time t fill in their answers.
3. Check the answer (1. gd luck 2. bad luck 3. friend 4. fun 5. success 6. mney 7. wisely 8. party 9. health 10. healthy 11.sick). Then ask students t read Millie’s ntes.
4. Play the tape and ask students t finish part A3 n page 15.
