Step 2. Presentatin
Write dwn the fllws wrds n the blackbard while the students answer the questins.

When we add “ –(e)s” t the end f a wrd, we prnunce it in three different ways. It can be
Prnunced /s/, /z/ r /iz/.
When a wrd ends in /p/, /f/, / /, /t/, r /k/, the new “ –(e)s” endings is prnunced /s/.
When a wrd ends in a vwel sund r viced a cnsnant sund (except /z/, / / and / /)
the new “ –(e)s” ending is prnunced /z/.
When a wrd ends in /s/, /z/, / /, / / and / /, the new “ –(e)s” ending is prnunced /z/.
Step 3. Listening
Listen t the wrds in part A n page 72 carefully, then practise saying them. Write dwn the
list n the blackbard, pinting ut which cnsnants are viceless, which are viced.
Viceless cnsnants: /p/, /s/, /k/, /f/, / /, / /, / /, /h/
Viced cnsnants: /b/, /z/, /g/, /v/, / /, / /, / /, /m/, /n/, / /, /l/, /r/, /j/, /w/
Step 4. Presentatin & Practice
There are sme wrds with the different “ –(e)s”endings. First listen carefully, then say whether
the ending f the wrds are prnunced /s/, /z/ r /iz/.
Then ask the students t cmplete part B n page 72 n their wn, then check the answers.
