Step 2:Prereading
1.Teach phrases and practice the sentence patterns.
Present the new words:graduate,remain,anti,decision,aid,worst,condition,operate,government,medical等。Show some pictures of the new words on the screen.Ask Ss to try to read these words.在学习词组的过程中,通过师生对话操练。
T:Where was Bethune born?
S1:Canada.
T:Where did Bethune graduate from?
S1:The University of Toronto.
S2:What is Bethune famous for?
S3:He is famous for...
设计意图:通过图片学习生词,能让学生更好地理解新单词的含义。跟上句型练习,能有效记忆单词。
2.Have a competition game to practice the sentence patterns in pairs.
T:Now let’s play a word game.
教师把全班分为8个小组进行争夺获胜组游戏,教师通过屏幕展示分类的图片。要求学生把学过的生词归类并造句,说出单词最多、造句最多的组为获胜组!
本课所学的动词:remain,operate,graduate
形容词:worst,medical,based
名词:decision,condition,government,crossword,puzzle,chemistry
设计意图:通过竞赛游戏的方式充分调动学生主动参与的意识,增添了学生语言学习的乐趣,使学生在操练中潜移默化地感知本单元的词汇和语法。调动学生的多种感官体验,突破本课教学重难点。
Step 3:Whilereading
Task 1 Scan reading(速读).
T:Boys and girls,now that you have known something about Bethune,let’s read the passage to get more about him. Please read quickly and do the Exercise 1 on Page 27.I will give you two minutes.

设计意图:本活动要求学生快速把握课文信息的能力,学会找关键句,不用详读,快速跳读,以找出答案为目的。小组之间进行竞争,学生积极性高,课堂利用率高。
Task 2 Careful reading(细读).
T:Well done!Boys and girls!Now this time,I will make the exercise a little more difficult.Read the article again and complete the sentences of Exercise 2 on Page 27.And there is still a competition between you.I will give you five minutes.If you know the answers,write them down.And You will win stars for your group.Clear?Go!

Task 3 Read the article aloud after the recorder.
教师播放视频,播放一句,暂停一次,学生观看视频并跟读课文。
设计意图:本活动设计在读课文两遍之后,学生对课文内容已经有了一定的了解,跟着视频大声朗读课文可以加深对文章的理解,并且对于学生准确的发音以及培养他们的语感有重要的作用。
Task 4 Work in group of 8 to deal with the key words,phrases and sentences.
教师把学生分为8人一组,学生通过合作探究找出大屏幕上出现的重点句子,并学习。
the key words,phrases and sentences:
1.In 1916,Norman Bethune graduated from the University of Toronto.
1961年,诺曼尔·白求恩从多伦多大学毕业。
graduate from 从……毕业。
2.With a lot of hard work,he found new ways to help people with T.B.—a disease that damages the lungs.通过大量的辛勤工作,他找到了新的方法帮助人们对抗肺结核,一种破坏肺的疾病。
句子结构:with a lot of hard work介词短语作伴随状语。to help people with T.B.,to do不定式作ways的定语。a disease that damages the lungs,其中that从句作disease的后置定语。
3.He also invented tools that remain in use today.他发明了一些工具,到今天仍在使用。
句子结构:本句是由that引导的定语从句,that从句作tools的后置定语。
remain动词,“仍然是,保持不变”,remain in use意为“仍然在使用中”。
4.the AntiJapanese War抗日战争
5.In 1938,he made a decision to go to northern China because he knew many people were dying in the war.1938年,他决定去中国北方因为他了解到很多人在战争中死去。
decision名词,是动词decide的名词形式。make a decision“做决定”,相当于动词decide,后常接to do不定式。
6....,and showed people how to give first aid.……,向人们展示如何进行急救。
first aid“急救”。
7.People remember how hard he worked day after day in the worst possible conditions to help others.人们记住了,他在最恶劣的环境中夜以继日地辛苦工作,来帮助别人。
possible形容词,“可能的”,其副词是possibly,反义词是impossible“不可能的”。condition名词,“环境;条件”。
8.He once operated for sixtynine hours straight without stopping.
他曾经连续手术69小时没有休息。
operate 动词,“动手术;做手术”,其名词为operation。operate on sb. 给某人做手术。without介词,后接名词或动名词。
9.To remember him,the government set up Bethune Medical School and Bethune International Peace Hospital in Shijiazhuang.
为了纪念他,政府在石家庄建立了白求恩医学院和白求恩国际和平医院。
to remember him是to do不定式表目的的用法。set up意为“建立;创立”相当于start。
给学生一段时间背诵这些句子和知识点。
设计意图:学生应是学习的主体,教师要努力调动学生学习的积极性和主动性,通过组内合作讨论,探究,找出对话中的关键单词和短语,把所学的知识转化为学习能力。
