【拓展】brrw和lend
brrw和lend都有“借”的意思,但它们的含义和用法有所不同。
★ brrw表示“借入”,即把本来不属于自己的东西借来暂时使用,常与介词frm连用。如:
Yu can brrw a bk frm the library. 你可以从图书馆借一本书。
★ lend表示“借出”,即把属于自己的东西借给别人暂时使用,常与介词t连用,也可以跟双宾语。
如:
He’s ging t lend his bike t Tm. 他打算把他的自行车借给汤姆。
Yu mustn’t lend thers my pen. 你不能把我的笔借给其他人。
5. hate v.讨厌,厌恶
【用法】hate t d sth 讨厌做某事, 表示某次具体行为或动作。 I hate t truble him.
hate ding sth不愿意做某事 表示经常或习惯性行为或动作。
She hates smking in her rm. 她讨厌在房间里抽烟。
6.prvide v.提供,给予,供应
can prvide the best service.我们可以提供最好的服务。
Prvide可以构成:prvide sb. With sth.或prvide sth.fr sb. 意思是“给某人提供某物”。
wetlands prvide fd and shelters fr the birds. 湿地为鸟类提供食物和栖息地。
The parents prvide the children with fd and clthes. 父母给孩子提供衣食。
7.ill & sick
◆相同点
ill 与sick 都可以表示“生病的”,都可作表语。如:
Alice was ill / sick yesterday.
◆不同点
表示“生病”时,sick 可作定语,但ill 通常不作定语。如:

【运用】根据句意,用ill或sick填空。

8. as a result
as a result为习惯短语,意为“因此;结果”,在句中作状语。例如:
He didn’t practise, and as a result he lst. 他没有练习,所以输了。
The traffic was very heavy and as a result we didn’t arrive n time.
交通十分拥挤,因此我们没有能准时到达。
【拓展】
as a result f意为“由于……;作为……的结果”。先交代结果,再用as a result f连接原因。
例如:We can’t g ut as a result f the heavy rain. 因为下大雨,我们不能出去。
9. waste
(1)waste 作不可数名词,意为“浪费,废物,垃圾”。例如:
I hate waste. 我讨厌浪费。
(2)waste 作形容词,意为“无用的,浪费的,荒废的”。例如:
We shuldn’t thrw waste paper abut. 我们不应该乱扔废纸。
A factry is puring waste water int the river. 一家工厂正在向河里倾倒废水。
(3)waste 作及物动词,意为“浪费”。例如:
We shuldn’t waste the time. 我们不应该浪费时间。
10. pass
(1)pass作动词,意为“经过,传递”。例如:
The schl bus passed ur garden. 校车经过了我们的花园。
Please pass me the bk. 请把书递给我。
(2)pass 作名词,意为“关口,通过”。例如:
He has gt a pass mark. 他达到了及格标准。
11. brrw&lend
(1)brrw 意为“借,借用”;反义词是lend(借出)。
“brrw…frm”意为“从……借(入)……”。

(2)“lend…t”意为“把……借(出)……”。
例如:I lend my bk t Lily. 我把我的书借给莉莉了。
12. depend
depend意思为“依靠、依赖、取决于”等,只用作不及物动词,通常与介词 n, upn 连用,主
要用法有:
(1)depend n/upn+某人或某物 例如:
Whether we’ll g camping depends n the weather.
我们是否去野营要看天气。
有时可在某人或某物后用介词fr。例如:
Children depend n their parents fr fd and clthing.
儿童的衣食靠父母。
(2)depend n [upn]+从句 例如:
Our success depends n whether everyne wrks hard r nt.
我们的成功取决于每个人是否努力。

(3)口语中说 It (all) depends. /That depends.意为“那要看情况”。例如:

-depend n意为“视……而定;取决于;依靠”,其后可跟名词、代词或从句作宾语,n也可以换为upn。例如:
-When shall we start? 我们什么时候动身?

He depended n his uncle after his father died. 父亲去世后,他依靠他的叔叔。
13. while
(1)while作连词时,可以意为“当……时候, 和……同时”。例如:
Our friends arrived while we were having dinner.
当我们吃饭的时候,朋友们来了。
(2)while还可作并列连词,意为“而,然而”,表示两者之间的对比。例如:
I like listening t music, while my brther likes ding sprts.
我喜欢听音乐,而我的弟弟爱好运动。
14. prvide
prvide为及物动词,意为“提供”,常和with搭配。prvide sb. with sth.表示“为某人提供某物”,其同意表达为 prvide sth. fr sb.。例如:
The Sun prvides us with light and heat.
太阳给我们提供光和热。
Sheep prvide us with wl. /Sheep prvide wl fr us.
羊供给我们羊毛。
15. since
(1)since作介词,意为“从…以来; 自从…之后”。例如:
She has been ill since last weekend. 她自从上周末就病了。
She has been in Wuhan since fur years ag. 自从四年前她就在武汉。
(2)since作连词,可以意为“因为; 既然; 由于”。例如:
Since it is late I shall g hme nw.

第二部分:重点句型
1. Tny, culd yu please help ut with a few things? 托尼,你能帮忙做几件事吗?
help ut 动词短语,表示在某人繁忙或 遇到困难时“给予帮助”。
【用法】help ut (with smething) 是一个动词短语,表示在某人繁忙或是遇到困难时“给予帮助” 再如本单元中这句话:
Yu watch TV all the time and never help ut arund the huse!
你老是看电视,从不帮忙干家务。
help和ut之间还可以加入具体的“人”。
e.g. He helped me ut with my task.他帮我完成了任务。
They helped (us) ut with the clean-up. 他们帮助我们做大扫除。

any minute nw
一种常见的口语表达法,相当于“随时;马上;在任何时刻”的意思,表示事情有可能在极短的时间内发生或眼下就要发生。
【用法】minute还可以用secnd, mment, time等词替换。

用于提出请求,希望得到对方的肯定回答,说话的语气比较客气委婉。
Culd 不是can的过去式,是委婉、礼貌的说法。回答用can.

【解析】 as ... as 意为 “和……一样” ,表示同级的比较。使用时要注意第一个as为副词,第二个as为连词。其基本结构为:as + adj./ adv. + as。

Yur pen writes as smthly as mine. 你的钢笔书写起来和我的一样流畅。
as … as 的否定形式为 “nt as/s + adj./adv. + as”。
e.g. He didn’t act as well as yu. 他表现得不如你好。

“neither +be动词/助动词/情态动词 + 主语”表示“……也不”,指后者与前者具有相同的情况,但是表示的是否定意义的相同。相当于一个主谓倒装的否定句。neither 此处意为“也不”,是副词。例如:

玛丽不喜欢唱歌,我也不喜欢。(我和Mary 有相同的情况,前句是否定句,下文用neither开头,主谓倒装)
如果上文是肯定句,下文表示与上文有相同情况时,用“s+ be动词/助动词/情态动词 + 主语”。例如:
Mary likes singing. S d I.
玛丽喜欢唱歌。我也喜欢。(我和Mary有相同情况,前句是肯定句,下文用s开头,主谓倒装)
【拓展】
当表示对上文所讲内容的赞同时,可以用“s + 主语 + be动词/助动词/情态动词”或者“neither + 主语 + be动词/助动词/情态动词”来表示。前者用于肯定句,后者用于否定句。例如:
Mary plays the pian well. S she des.
玛丽钢琴弹得很好。她确实弹得好。(表示对上文所讲内容的赞同,前句是肯定句,下文用s开头,主谓不倒装)
Mary desn’t play the pian well. Neither she des.
玛丽钢琴弹的不好。她确实弹得不好。(表示对上文内容的赞同,前句是否定句,下文用neither开头,主谓不倒装)
als, t, either, neither 的用法
一、 als 是比较正式的用语,语气较庄重。它通常放在句中,位于行为动词之前,连系动词之后; 如有助动词或情态动词,一般放在助动词或情态动词之后。例如:
Peter als has tw brthers. 彼得也有两个兄弟。
I am als a student. 我也是一名学生。
Mrs. Green can als sing the sng in Chinese. 格林夫人也能用汉语唱这首歌。
二、 t 是普通用词,多用于口语,语气较随便。一般用在肯定句中,放在句末。例如:
I’m in Rw 1, t. 我也在第一排。
注意:als和t一般都用于肯定句,很少用于否定句。
三、either 表示“也”时,一般只用于否定句,且置于句末。例如:
I dn’t knw him. Tm desn’t knw him, either. 我不认识他,汤姆也不认识他。
If yu dn’t g there, he wn’t g there, either. 如果你不去那儿,他也不会去那儿。
注意:either 本身没有否定的意义。所以多与 nt 连用。
四、neither 表示“两个都不”,它作主语时,谓语动词常用单数。例如:
Neither f yu can d it. 你们两个都不能做这件事。

萨姆没有得到那份工作, 但他并没有闷闷不乐, 反正薪酬也不算高。
anyway还可用来表示“不管怎样; 无论如何”之意。例如:

这只不过是感冒, 但不管怎样, 你还是应该看看医生。

【解析】“the+比较级+……, the+比较级+……”是英语中一个常用的句型结构, 表示“越……, 越……”。

11. “What happened?” she asked in surprise. 他惊讶的问道:“发生什么事情了?”
介词短语 in surprise 表示状态,意思是“吃惊地, 惊讶地”。 再如:
She lked at me in great surprise and asked fr a lng while, “Dn’t yu just leave fr Australia this mrning?”他极其惊讶的看着我,好久才问道: “ 你不是尽早才离开去澳大利亚了吗?”
12. Culd yu please clean yur rm?
(1)“Culd + 主语 + please + 动词原形 + 其他?”这一句型相当于“Culd + 主语 + 动词原形 + 其他,please?”意为“请……,好吗?”。这两种句型均表示礼貌的请求,语气委婉,客气。其中culd在此句中不表示过去,而表示说话人的语气委婉。因此回答时,不能用culd回答。例如:
Culd yu please help me with my English?
= Culd yu help me with my English, please?
请你帮我学英语好吗?
-Culd I have a lk at it, please? 请让我看一看它好吗?
-Certainly!当然可以。
13. They shuld …in rder t get gd grades and get int a gd university.
(1)本句中的in rder t是一个固定搭配的短语,意思是“为了”,后接动词原形构成不定式结构在句子中作目的状语,否定形式是在t前面加nt。in rder t可以和s as t 互换,但后者不能放在句首。例如:

为了不迟到,你现在应该走。
(2)in rder t+动词原形和s as t+动词原形可以转换成in rder that+从句和s that+从句。
例如:
He did anything in rder t make mney.
= He did anything in rder that he culd make mney.

=Please g in quietly s that we wn’t wake the baby.
请不声不响地进去以免弄醒孩子。

(1)本句中if后面的部分是这个句子中的条件状语从句。在以when,after,as sn as等引导的时间状语从句以及以if,unless等引导的条件状语从句中,如果主句是一般将来时,从句则用一般现在时表将来。例如:
I’ll tell her the gd news when she cmes back.
当她回来的时候,我将把这个好消息告诉她。
If it desn’t rain, he will cme here n time.
如果不下雨,他会按时来这儿的。
常见的“主将从现”有以下三种情况:
1)条件状语从句的主句是一般将来时,那么从句常常用一般现在时。例如:
When I grw up, I’ll be a nurse and lk after patients. 我长大后要当一名护士,照顾病人。
2)如果主句是祈使句,那么从句通常要用一般现在时。 例如:
Dn’t laugh at me when I make a mistake. 我犯错误的时候不要笑话我。
3)如果主句是含有情态动词的一般现在时,根据需要从句多用一般现在时。例如:
Yu shuld be quiet when yu are in the reading rm. 在阅览室时应保持安静。

在表示请求帮助或请求允许的疑问句中,常用culd代替can,以表示礼貌,委婉或不确定的语气,而can则不具备这些语气。这种情况下不能把culd看作can的过去式。以上两句中用culd是为了表示礼貌的请求。表示请求帮助或请求允许时,除了can, culd之外,还可以用may,句子的表达方式也各有不同,可以用不同的方式来表示同一个概念。例:

对于①、②句所作允答可以各种各样,如同意可以说Yes或Sure或Certainly,还可说Yes, (d) please. 或Of curse. (yu may/can). 或G ahead, please. 或That’s OK/all right; 如果不同意,可以说I’m srry yu can’t. 或I’m really srry, but I have t use it tday. 要避免说N, yu can’t. 这样显得很不礼貌。否定回答通常用委婉语气。
③ D yu mind if I use yur car fr a day?
对于句③所作回答可以说Never mind. /Nt at all. 表“不介意”。不能用Yes. /Sure. /Of curse. /Certainly.等。无论肯定还是否定应答中,要避免使用culd,要用can或may。因为应答须用确定的语气。而culd在表请求的问句中是为了表示礼貌或委婉语气,用在应答中则成了不确定语气,与情理不符。所以应答中不说Yes, yu culd. 或N, yu culdn’t. 而要说Yes, yu can. 或Srry. /N, yu can’t.

culd与can都是情态动词,culd是can的过去式。二者都可用于 表示请求。但是用法稍有不同。
1)can表示一般性的请求,语气随便,常用于熟人之间或长辈对辈,上级对下级的场合;

2)culd表示有礼貌的请求,语气委婉,常用于非熟人之间或晚辈对长辈,下级对上级的场合。
