Step2.Pre-listening
Shw the students pictures f cities. Elicit sme wrds t describe them and write the wrds n the bard.
• Ask sme questins abut the city. Tell the students t use the wrds n the bard t help them answer the questins. Elicit mre wrds if necessary.
The students wrk in pairs.
Lk at the blackbard. Repeat the wrds n the bard chrally.
Lk at the pictures. Lk and say.

l. Lk at the pictures and talk abut them. Use the wrds in the bx t help yu.
• Tell the students t lk at the tw pictures and say what the similarities and differences are.
• Ask them t lk at and repeat the wrds in the bx tgether.
Step4 Pst listening.
1.Listen and read.
• Intrduce the cmparative by asking if Hng Kng and Shanghai are the same r different and hw.
• Write the sentences n the bard and then list the adjectives and their cmparatives as they cme up (e.g. small---smaller; quiet ---quieter; ld---lder).
• Ask them t lk at the spelling f the cmparatives and summarise hw cmparative adjectives are frmed.
• Ask the class questins t cmpare tw places.
• Put the students in pairs t ask and answer. Tell them t use the infrmatin in Activity I t ask questins abut Shanghai and Hng Kng.
2. Cmplete the sentences with the crrect frm f the wrds In the bx. Yu need t use sme f the wrds mre than nce.
• Tell the students t read the sentences and think abut which wrd shuld be chsen fr each sentence, whether the wrd shuld be changed and hw.
• Ask them t cmplete the sentences individually. Remind them t be careful f the spelling.

4. Listen and ntice hw the speaker stresses the underlined wrds.
• Ask the students t read thrugh the fur cnversatins n their wn.
• Play the recrding. Ask the students t pay attentin t the underlined wrds and think abut why they are underlined.
• Elicit that the underlined wrds are stressed t crrect wrng infrmatin.
• Play the recrding again and have the students repeat the cnversatins chrally and individually. Tell them t pay attentin t the underlined wrds and exaggerate the stressed syllables fr the meaning.
Nw wrk In pairs. Listen again and repeat.
• Put the students in pairs t practise the cnversatins. Tell them t stress the underlined wrds t shw that their partners are wrng.
• Ask them t cnduct Ping-Png practice.
5. Cmpare Shenzhen with yur hme twn. Make ntes in the table.
• Ask the students t read the table and think abut what infrmatin can be included in it.
Ask them t fill in the table with .infrmatin abut Shenzhen and their hme twn, with ntes t describe size, ppulatin, ways f life, etc.
Describe the cities in the pictures in pairs, using the wrds in the bx.
Repeat the sentences, the adjectives and their cmparatives chrally and individually.
Lk at the spelling f the cmparatives and summarise hw cmparative adjectives are frmed.
Read the sentences and cmplete the sentences individually.
•Ask them t check answers with their partners.
