[语法精释]
英语中的短语通常为由两个或多个词构成的语法单位。短语是按一定的语法规则围绕一定的中心词结合起来的一组词。从形式结构角度划分,英语的短语可分为名词短语、动词短语、形容词短语、副词短语、介词短语。
1.名词短语
名词短语是以名词为中心词的词组。在句子中可以充当主语、宾语等。常见的名词词组有以下几类:
(1)前置定语+名词。如:an ld huse,five cmputers,high schl students等。
(2)名词+后置定语。如:girls in pink, bys sitting in the crner, things t d等。
(3)前置定语+名词+后置定语。如:his new bk n business, a beautiful village near the river等。
2.动词短语
动词短语是以动词为中心,由动词加介词、副词或其他词构成的固定词组,其作用和动词相当。有些动词短语相当于及物动词,有些则相当于不及物动词。常见的动词短语类型如下:
(1)动词+副词
put away把……收拾起来;存(钱) pass away去世
give away暴露;泄漏
hld back控制;阻碍
break dwn失败;出故障;(使)分解
turn dwn调小;拒绝
run ut用完
make ut理解;看清楚
carry ut执行
leave ut遗漏;不包括
(2)动词+介词
bring abut引起;使发生
set abut着手;开始

3.形容词短语
形容词短语是指以形容词为中心的短语,在句中的功能相当于形容词,可以修饰名词或代词,还可以用作表语或者宾语补足语。常见形容词短语的构成有以下几类:
(1)副词+形容词,如:very ht,rather difficult等。
(2)形容词+enugh,如:gd enugh,kind enugh等。
(3)形容词+介宾,如:gd fr nthing,full f happiness等。
4.副词短语
副词短语是指以副词为中心的短语,在句中的功能相当于副词,可以修饰动词、形容词或副词。常见副词短语的构成为:副词+副词。如:much mre,far t等。
5.介词短语
介词短语是介词和其他代词或名词或词组搭配形成的短语。这类短语主要用来表示词与词、词与句之间的关系。常见介词短语的构成为:介词+名词。如:by accident偶然;n business因公,出差;n the cntrary反之,正相反;at hand在手边,在附近;in nature本质上。
