Step 1: Warm-up & Revisin & Lead-in
1. Greetings.
2. Can yu chant? (出示课件)
Pint t a picture n the PPT and ask: What’s she like? (课件出示:一个滑稽女孩的图片) Help students answer: Funny, funny, she’s funny. Then shw ther pictures ne by ne. (课件出示:年老的、年轻的、友好的、严格的人物图片) The teacher asks and students answer in the same way. These wrds can be used in turn: ld, yung, kind, strict.
Make up a chant with the wrds and the sentence patterns with students. Let students read the chant.
Step 2: Presentatin

1. Learn the new wrd “plite”.
Play a vide prepared befre the class n the PPT. It shws a pupil f the class saying “Gd mrning!” t a teacher and bwing. (出示课件)Pint t the pupil and ask.
T: Wh’s he? Ss: He’s…
T: Yes. He’s very plite.
Shw the wrd “plite” and read it like this: i-e /aɪ/, p-lite. (出示课件) Lead students t read it three times. Ask different grups t read it. Shw sme pictures and lead students t say: She’s plite. He’s plite. (出示课件) Make sure students knw the meaning f the wrd. Then ask: Wh’s plite in ur class?
Ask sme students t answer: ××× is plite.
At last shw the wrd with sme blanks and lead students t spell and fill in the blanks.
2. Learn the new wrd “clever”.
Play a vide n the PPT. It shws a pupil f the class with a test paper. (出示课件) Pint t the pupil and ask.
T: Wh’s he? Ss: He’s ×××.
T: ××× always gets 100 scres in tests. He’s clever. (Pint t the head.)
Shw the wrd “clever”. (出示课件)Spell it like this: cle-ver, clever. Lead students t read the wrd three times. Ask students t practice it ne by ne. Pay attentin t the sund f the letter “v”.
After that shw sme pictures and lead students t say: He’s clever. She’s clever. (出示课件) Make sure students knw the meaning f the wrd. Then ask: Wh’s clever in ur class? Ask sme students t answer: ××× is clever.
At last shw the wrd with sme blanks and lead students t spell and fill in the blanks.
3. Learn the new wrd “hard-wrking”.
T: ××× is clever. ××× is clever. ××× is clever. They are nt nly clever, but als hard-wrking.
Shw the wrd “hard-wrking”. (出示课件) Explain it like this: hard + wrk + ing — hard-wrking. Spell it slwly and students imitate. Ask students t pay attentin t the sunds /aː/ and /ɜː/ and the hyphen.
Ask students t practice it between bys and girls. Shw sme pictures and lead students t say: He’s hard-wrking. She’s hard-wrking. (出示课件) Make sure students knw the meaning f the wrd. Then ask: Wh’s hard-wrking in ur class?
Ss: ××× is hard-wrking.
At last shw the wrd with sme blanks and lead students t spell and fill in the blanks.
4. Learn the new wrd “shy”.
Shw a picture f a shy girl hiding herself behind her parents n the PPT. (出示课件) Pint t her face and say: ××× is shy. Teach the wrd three times. Students read after the teacher.
Shw the wrds: she, fly. (出示课件) Let students read them. Ask students t write the new wrd thrugh the tw wrds. Ask students t try t spell and write. Hide “e” and “fl”, and shw the wrd “shy” n the PPT. Then ask: Wh’s shy in ur class?
Ss: ××× is shy.
At last shw the wrd with sme blanks and lead students t spell and fill in the blanks.
5. Learn the new wrd “helpful”.
Ask several students t cme t the frnt and d the actins f cleaning the classrm. Then ask ne f the students.
T: What are yu ding? S1: I’m cleaning the blackbard.
Give him a thumb up and say “Yu are helpful.” Then say t the thers in the same way. Ask all the class t say “We are helpful.” with thumbs up. Shw the wrd “helpful”. (出示课件) Explain the wrd like this: help + ful — helpful.
Shw sme pictures and lead students t say: He’s helpful. She’s helpful. (出示课件) Make sure students knw the meaning f the wrd. At last shw the wrd with sme blanks and lead students t spell and fill in the blanks.

6. Read and act.
(1)Shw the cntent f “Let’s learn” n page 8 and play the recrding. (出示课件) Let students read after it and pay attentin t the prnunciatin and the intnatin. Ask students t read the wrds and the dialgue tgether. Then they can have a cmpetitin in different grups. Fr example, Grup 1 PK Grup 2, and bys PK girls.
(2)First, make a mdel with a student. Then let students ask and answer in pairs.
