Students discuss in grups. Then they give theɪr answers. The teacher marks the same letter cmbinatin “ay” f these wrds with red chalks.
T: Can yu read the letter cmbinatins with red marks? Try t find the rule f prnunciatin.
Students read them again and perceɪve the sund carefully.
Ss: They have the same sund /eɪ/.
(2)Learn the wrds with “ai”.
T: It is rainy. After the rain, there is a rainbw in the sky. Hw beautiful!
Write dwn the wrds “rainy, rainbw” n the blackbard.
T: The by is wrried. He wants t get hme early. He wants t paint a picture. He can’t wait.
Shw a picture f “paint” n the PPT and d the actin. (出示课件) Then write dwn the wrds “paint, wait” n the blackbard.
Students bserve these wrds. They find the same letter cmbinatin “ai” in these wrds and the prnunciatin rule in the same way.
(3)Sum up.
Sum up the prnunciatin rule f “ay/ai” with students. Lead students t find the difference f the psitins f “ay/ai” in the wrds. It is that “ai” always appears in the middle f the wrds and “ay” always appears at the end f the wrds.
Explain the prnunciatin methd f /eɪ/. Help students knw /eɪ/ thrugh a vide f teaching phnetic symbls.
2. Read, listen and chant.

采用听、读、说唱歌谣等多种方式让学生在例词中感知ai/ay的发音规则,并按照正确的语音、语调及节奏进行说唱,调动学生的积极性,激发学生的学习热情。
(1)Shw the pictures f the first sectin f “Let’s spell” ne by ne with the recrding f the wrds n the PPT. (出示课件) Ask students t read after the recrding and pay attentin t the sund f “ay/ai” in every wrd.
(2)Spell these wrds like this: /eɪ/—rainy, /eɪ/—say… Let students try t imitate and practice the sund /eɪ/ in these wrds and have a reading cmpetitin amng grups.
(3)The teacher plays the recrding f the chant. (出示课件) Students chant after it first. Find the wrds with “ay/ai” and then chant freely. Have a chanting cmpetitin between bys and girls.

(2)Play the recrding. (出示课件) Let students listen t the recrding and try t write dwn the answers.
