One big challenge that many students have is the language barrier—they may think they are gd at English, but they are nt used t hearing English being spken at a nrmal speed, they are nt used t English being spken with a heavy accent, and they are nt familiar with many English idims.
The best way t prepare is t try t expse themselves in English befre they g abrad. They culd watch a variety f English-language films and TV prgrammes withut using subtitles, listen t English sngs, and use every pprtunity t speak with native English speakers.
