【教学过程】
1. Pair Wrk: Discuss and decide.
(1) Write “Disasters” n the bard. Say:
a. What types f disasters can happen?
b. Hw wuld yu survive each disaster?
c. Which disaster wuld yu mst want t give advice n?
d. What advice culd yu prvide?
(2) Instruct students t answer these questins in pairs.
2. Read fr writing.
(1) Instruct students t read the brchure n page 41 abut surviving an earthquake.
(2) Explain that the brchure has prvided advice fr three situatins that a persn culd be in during an earthquake: yu are indrs, utdrs and in a car.
(3) While the teacher reads the brchure alud, students underline key wrds in the advice given fr each situatin, t survive during an earthquake.
(4) Discuss the answers as a class.
3. Read again and cmplete.
(1) Read and discuss the table.
(2) As the teacher reads the brchure alud, students use their ntes t cmplete the table.
4. Write ds and dn’ts.
(1) Read the Sentence Builder bx, discuss ds and dn’ts using the brchure n page 41 as an example.
(2) In the same pairs as Activity 1, students write a few ds and dn’ts fr surviving the disaster that they chse.
(3) Challenge students t write in their wn wrds.
(4) After students write their sentences, have them exchange their writing with a partner t check each ther’s wrk.
(5) Ask vlunteers t read their sentences t the class.
5. Cmpse yur writing: Outlining.
(1) Explain that students will nw cmpse their wn leaflet t give advice t survive the disaster f their chice.
(2) Encurage students t revisit their ideas discussed in Activity 1.
(3) If needed, explain the cncept f a leaflet and review the titles prvided by the example brchure n page 41. Use these titles t frm a spider diagram where students can utline their ideas.
(4) Make sure that students are writing ntes and nt cmplete sentences.
(5) Remind students that in the early stages f writing, it is alright t crss ut ideas in favur f better ideas.
6. Cmpse yur writing: Drafting.
(1) Remind students that a draft is the first versin f a piece f writing.
(2) Have students use their utlines t write cmplete sentences. Remind students t review the Sentence Builder bx.
(3) Befre students begin writing, review the infrmatin in the Writing Help bx. Read the items alud r have vlunteers read the items fr the class.
7. Cmpse yur writing: Editing.
(1) Remind students that the final stage f writing, befre publishing, is editing. When we edit, we check that ur ideas are clear and that ur sentences are cmplete.
(2) Have students exchange their writing with a partner and ffer each ther suggestins t imprve their drafts.
(3) Ask students t prepare a final draft f their wrk t submit and then place in a writer’s prtfli.
