Unit 3The InternetPeriod 2 Reading and Thinking教学设计This section focuses on starting an online community.The passage tells us an unemployed female teacher in her fifties who not only uses the Internet to change her life, but also helps other old people learn to use the Internet. The Internet is the greatest invention of the 20th century, which has brought great changes to the society. But some people are unable to access the Internet for various reasons. There is a so-called "digital divide" between people: not being able to connect to the Internet means not being able to share with each other. While teaching, the teacher should stress some reading strategies. For example, the teacher explains to the students that listing examples are common ways of writing. We can remind students to pay attention to the internal relationship between examples in reading and understand how the author explains the main idea of the article through examples. Besides, the use of mind map can also help students to structure the fragmented text information, help students to clear the structure of the article, and grasp the context of the article, thus improving the quality and efficiency of students' reading comprehension.1.
