This is the fifth perid f this unit. In this part,tw items will be dealt with,that is,the wrds left in the vcabulary,the reading in the wrkbk. The first item,learning new wrds left in the vcabulary is t remve the barrier in the fllwing study. And hw t let students learn the wrds with interest is a difficult issue. I think it is better t give students the chance t learn new wrds by themselves. Let students lk up wrds in the dictinary and then cmmunicate with thers in class,which can inspire students. And then let them make up sme sentences. The secnd item is anther passage n the subject “English”.It gives students much mre infrmatin n English. Greet the whle class as usual.
Step 2 New wrds and vcabulary
T:Yesterday,I asked yu t lk up the wrds left in the vcabulary in the dictinary. Have yu been prepared fr it?Nw,let’s have a game. Let’s divide the whle class int 2 grups. Either grup chses ne student as a representative. I’ll shw the representative a wrd r a phrase,she r he shuld explain it in English. If the grup’s members can guess it,yur grup will win 10 pints. Either grup has 5 chances. Let’s g!

T:It’s Lngman Dictinary and the Oxfrd English Dictinary. Tday,we’ll read a passage n the Oxfrd English Dictinary. Nw accrding t the title,what d yu think will be mentined in the passage?
S:I think the writer,the time when was it written,why it was written,hw it was written,the feature f the dictinary will be mentined.

S:We think that it wrth their jb. If there were n dictinaries,peple wuld have n rule t guide them while using the language,which will lead t a mess in English because different peple wuld use different laws t use it. Then there will be mre difficulty in understanding ne anther. With the dictinary,peple have a set rule t judge whether their way f using the language is right.

The Oxfrd English Dictinary is the accepted authrity n the evlutin f the English language ver the last millennium.
