    Objectives
    T help students better their speaking by reading alud the text t the tape
    T help students understand and use indirect speech t express requests and cmmands
    T help students learn t use sme useful wrds and expressins
    Prcedures
    1. Warming up by reading the text alud t the tape
    T begin with we shall read the text learned yesterday t the tape. Try t make yur reading alud as native-like as pssible.
    2. Building yur wrd pwer
    3. Learning abut direct and indirect speech
    4. Discvering useful structures by learning t ffer cmmands
    In grups f fur, think f at least three cmmands yur teachers and parents usually give. Yu may fllw these steps.
    Chse ne wh is t give the first cmmand.
    Ask anther persn in yur grup t tell smebdy what yu said.
    The third persn will change the request r cmmand frm direct int indirect speech.
    Change rle s that each persn gets the chance t give cmmands and turn them int indirect speech.

    [词义辨析] request, demand, require
    request意为“恳求;请求”,指通过正式手续突出要求,口气和缓,态度礼貌。常用request sb.t d sth.;
    All I requested f yu was that yu came early. 我对你的唯一要求就是早点来。
    He requested his father t leave here.
    demand主语是人时,表示坚决要求,坚持要做某事;主语是物时,指迫切需要。常用demand f sb. t d sth.; 不说demand sb. t d sth.。
    The wrkers are demanding better pay. 工人们要求提高工资。
    The girl demanded f Mary t give her the bk.
    Civil rights fighter demands that blacks will be treated equally. (Language Study) 民权战士要求黑人被公平对待。
    require表示按照法规、权力提出的要求或命令,指客观需要,含缺此不可之意。常用require t d/ ding(这里动名词的主动形式表示被动)
    I have dne all that is required by law. 我已做了法律规定的一切。
    The baby requires/ needs/ wants t be lked after.
    = The baby requires/needs/wants lking after.
    demand, request, require后面跟宾语从句时,从句后谓语动词都要用虚拟语气,即shuld加动词原形。
