1. 祈使句的概念 祈使句表示请求、命令等。它的主语是you（听话人），通常省略。 Come to the door and knock at it. (对众人) You open the doors! You close the windows. 祈使句肯定结构中的谓语动词一律用动词原形。 祈使句末用惊叹号或句号，句子用降调。

● 表示请求、劝告的祈使句还常常在句前或句 末加上please, 构成句式：Please …或 …, please，使语气更加缓和或客气。Please只是个感叹词，完全不影响句子结构（即可有可无）。 例如：Please stand up. 或 Stand up, please. 请起立。 Please have a rest. 或 Have a rest, please. 请休息一下。 Please fix the shelf for me. 请为我安装书架。 Don’t touch the wet paint, please. 请不要触碰潮湿的 油漆。
2) 祈使句的否定结构，一律在肯定结构前Do not (Don’t) ,不管后面是什么动词。例如：  Don’t go there, please. 请别去那儿。 Don’t be late for class! 上课别迟到！ Don’t let him in. 不要让他进来。 Don’t talk in class. 课上不要谈话。 Don’t paint the cat. 不要给猫刷漆/颜料。
当我们给他人提建议时，可以用had better和should，表示“最好”或“应该”做某事. had better的语气比should强一些。 You should know a little about DIY.你该懂点DIY。Your watch is broken. You had better buy a new one.你的手表坏了，最好去买个新的。You should exercise more.你应该多锻炼。
had better & should
1. had better (常简略为’d better)，是一固定词 组，后面必须跟动词原形，没有人称和数的变化。 肯定式构成： had better do sth. 句型。 You’d better go to hospital at once.你最好立即去医院看病。 Tom, you’d better go there today. 汤姆，你最好今天去那儿。 had better 的否定式是将not直接放在had better的后面。 You had better not miss the last bus. 你最好不要错过末班公共汽车。
2. should 后面也要跟动词原形，且没有人称 和数的变化。You should stop smoking. 你应该戒烟。should 的否定式是should not/shouldn’t。 You should not put so many books on the shelf. 你不该把这么多的书放在架子上。You shouldn’t drink and drive. 你不应该喝酒后开车。

not only … but (also) 不仅…而且…；… 和 …. 都。这个短语应连接两个相对称的并列成分(词性一致)。
He plays not only the piano but also the violin.他不仅弹钢琴，也拉提琴。 Not only Mr Lin but also his son joined the club two years ago. 林先生和他的儿子在两年前都入了俱乐部。
短语里的also 可以与but分开，放在句子后部，也可省略。
not only … but (also) 连接两个并列的主语时，谓语动词的单复数由靠近的主语决定(称为“就近原则”)
 Not only the students but also the teacher was invited. 不仅学生们被邀请，而且那位教师也被邀请了。Not only you but also Mr Zhang teaches in this college.不单是你，张先生也在这个学院教书。 
both… and…虽然和 not only … but (also) 意思相同，但用它连接两个主语时，谓语动词要用复数：
Both the students and the teacher were invited. Both you and Mr Zhang teach in this college.

A possible version:My first DIY job Last week I bought some paint and two brushes online (/on the Internet) and yesterday I did my first DIY job with them. As a result, my room has a new look now. First, before painting my room, I read the instructions carefully. Then at the beginning of the painting I painted all the walls blue. I found my room a little boring. So, in the end, I drew some colourful fishes and a small boat on the walls. This made me feel very happy. However, I made some mistakes and after doing the DIY job, there was paint all over the floor of my room. I had to spend one more hour to clean and tidy my room. Now it looks wonderful. Since I am not very good at DIY, I plan to buy some books on DIY to learn it by myself and I will attend some courses of DIY. I believe I can learn it well soon. (160 words)
