At my primary school, I was one of the smartest kids there. I never studied, but always got perfect scores. I thought I was born clever. At least I believed so. I was also a prodigy in music according to myself. I could sing better than almost everyone else in my school. I was pretty sure that once I got to seventh grade, everyone would be surprised by me.
But actually they weren't.
When I arrived at my new class, I couldn't wait to show everyone what I could do. However, there was always someone else who could do better than me. My grades began to get worse, I needed to actually study for my tests. I believed I wasn't smart. I believed I wasn't talented. I believed I was a failure.
Over the next two years, I had to work very hard. Every prize for the singing competition was given to me for hard work and effort. Grades was still very low but improving little by little. I worked really hard. However, I was never the best at everything.
I haven't realized until recently that I really don't have to be the best at everything. I was too hard on myself. In fact, when I did badly in a test, my classmates never laughed at me.

When it comes to Chinese students considering studying in foreign countries, many of them usually believe that life will be easy and enjoyable. Unfortunately, it's likely that students with those thoughts will be disappointed very soon after landing at the airport.
So, what are the problems you may have, and how can you deal with them?
Teaching and learning styles in America are very different from those in China, requiring more critical thinking(批判性思维) and teamwork. In a normal American classroom, one project might be done by a study group in which every person has their own responsibility.
So don't worry about your language or any grammar mistakes. Just watch what other students do, and don't be afraid of asking any questions. The discussions, or sometimes even arguments, that your group members and you hold are likely to be the beginning of a friendship.
Besides schoolwork, another important thing faced by overseas students is homesickness or loneliness. You may miss your parents' cooking, your pets, or even your old bed. Being away from home can create bitter feelings, especially when faced with the challenges of getting used to a new environment.
What I strongly suggest is to try hard to deal with these feelings. Be open to new friendships. Sign up for school activities, and give yourself permission to enjoy life at school, even if you miss home a lot. Be organized and keep a diary to check your progress. Write down three new things that you're thankful for every evening, as well as three things you're looking forward to every morning.
Studying abroad is never simple. In fact, there will be many difficulties every day. But I'm sure you will overcome your difficulties and make your time overseas a success.
65. Whom is the article written for?
A. Teachers. B. Parents. C. Students. D. Travelers.
66. How do the students in America finish their schoolwork?
A. By thinking critically alone.
B. By working in a group.
C. By watching what others do.
D. By arguing with other students.
67. What can we know according to the passage?
A. The style of teaching and learning in America are very similar to those in China.
B. The discussion or even arguments between you and your group can lead to a friendship.
C. Faced with the challenges of getting used to a new environment can be a happy feeling.
D. The writer suggests us writing down three new things that we are thankful for every morning.
68. Which of the following best shows the structure of the passage?
E
Over the last few centuries, there have been many changes in our lives.
To start with, people were not able to travel such a long distance in such a short time in the past. Planes were not very popular at that time because they used to be a very expensive way to travel. Nowadays, more and more people can travel by plane and we can take many other fast and comfortable vehicles, such as cars and high-speed trains.
Secondly, in the past, people had to work much harder because they did not have the tools we have today. Today, most of the difficult and dangerous work is done by computers and machines.
Thirdly, in the past, the living conditions were not as good as they are now. There were no bathrooms or running water in many houses, and many people could not buy things like robots, TV sets or washing machines. Now, most families have several of these things.
Lastly, communications have become much easier than before. In the past, we kept in touch with others by writing letters or sending faxes, but now we have many other ways to choose from, such as making a phone call, sending e-mails or messages and chatting online. What's more, we can even see the people whom we are making a phone call with through mobile phones, and we can see each other while chatting online. The most surprising thing is that we can make a phone call with the astronauts and see them when they are in space. What a magical thing!
Thanks to the technology, especially the Internet, our lives have become much easier and happier than before. I'm sure they will become more wonderful in the future. Don't you think so?
69. Why were planes not so popular many years ago?
A. Because they were not big enough.
B. Because they were not able to fly long.
C. Because they were very expensive.
D. Because they were not fast enough.
70. What does the fourth paragraph mainly tell us?
A. Many families have TV sets and washing machines nowadays.
B. There were no bathrooms or running water before.
C. Living conditions have been improved.
D. Many people can take baths at home now.
71. What is the writer's last example for great changes in people's lives about?
A. Traveling. B. Living conditions. C. Working tools. D. Communication.
72. What's the best title for this passage?
A. Great Changes in Our Lives B. Good Education Will Change Our Lives
C. Fast Development of Science D. We Live a Happy Life Now

Last week, we had a discussion about whether we like to wear clothes with Chinese brands or foreign brands. Here are the results.
Many students like to wear clothes with Chinese brands. The most important thing is that they are more comfortable. Also, they have a lower price, so they can afford them. What’s more, they have meaning of culture. However, some students think differently. They prefer clothes with foreign brands. That’s because they are more fashionable, and they can make them feel good about themselves. Another reason is that they have a better quality.
As for me, I always wear clothes with Chinese brands. On the one hand, it’s normal for a Chinese to choose products made in China. On the other hand, wearing clothes with Chinese brands makes me proud of China.
