学情分析:
学生对自己生活习惯的变化有一定的感性认识,但是没有进行过讨论。这节课可以有充分的时间让学生互相讨论,同时发展学生查词典的技能。

STEP 1 Talking abut yur life
T: We knw there have been great changes in Starlight Twn ver the years frm the diary. Have there been changes in yur life? Nw yu are in junir high schl.Yu can g t schl by bus r by bike. Hw did yu g t schl when yu were in primary schl?
S1: My father tk me t schl every day.
S2: My mther tk me t schl every day. Smetimes my grandfather tk me t schl.
Use the fllwing questins.
(Hw d yu ,/Hw did yu,/What d yu?).
STEP 2 Presentatin
Ask sme students where they were brn.
And ask the students wh were brn in ther places where they were. They may give many ther places. And what feeling d they have when they cme back t their hmetwn. Sme students will say there are many changes in their hmetwns. Then the teacher tells them they are very surprised at the changes.
STEP 3 Listen t the tape
Explain that Millie and Sandy are talking abut the changes in their life. Listen t the tape and try t answer the questins. Ask the fllwing questins.
1) Hw did Millie g t schl when she was in primary schl?
2) Hw des Millie g t schl nw? With the help f these questins, it will be easier fr tudents t fcus n the key infrmatin. They will als help them t rganize their wn dialgue.
STEP 3 Read and act
Get the students t read the dialgue n Page19 alud. Pay special attentin t the changes in their life. Then give the students several minutes fr them t practice and act. Encurage them t remember the dialgue.
Then let the students make a similar cnversatin in pairs. Wrk in pairs and find ut abut the changes in yur partner’s life.
STEP 4 Using a dictinary
When we d sme reading, we ften meet many new wrds. Ask the students what they will d when they meet new wrds. And tell them t lk them up in an English dictinary is the best way t slve the questins. But hw d yu lk up a new wrd in an English dictinary? Tell them hw t use an English dictinary. First shw a dictinary t the students, and tell the students the English wrds in a dictinary are in alphabetical rder frm ‘A’ t ‘Z’. That is t say, the wrds which begin with ‘A’ are at the very beginning f a dictinary. And the wrds which begin with ‘B’ cme after the wrds begin with ‘A’ and s n. If tw wrds start with the same letter, we lk at the secnd letter t decide the alphabetical rder. If the first tw letters f tw wrds are the same, we lk at the third, and s n. Turn t Page 20. Cmplete Part A. Ask the students t put the fllwing wrds in alphabetical rder.
STEP 5 D sme games.
1.Give Ss sme cded sentences. Tell them that in rder t decde the message, they must replace each ther letter with the letter that cmes befre it in the alphabet.
