Yancy：Peple say that the British always play safe with what they eat (谨慎对待他们吃的东西). Nt true! I went t a summer schl in Manchester and my English teacher was called (call) Maggie. One day, a different teacher tk ur class (带我们的课). He tld us that Maggie culdn’t teach that day COZ she had a frg in her thrat (喉咙里有只青蛙). Pr (可怜的) Maggie-but why did she try t eat such a big frg (那么大的青蛙)?
Sphie：When I first visited New Yrk, I went t a dwntwn (在闹市区的) shpping centre t buy sme winter bts (靴子). At the infrmatin desk at the entrance (在入口的问询处), I asked a lady where the she sectin (鞋区) was. She said that it was n the first flr. S I went t up t the first flr, but culdn’t find any shes. I decided t leave. When I was lking fr the exit (出口), I saw that shes were actually sld dwnstairs (楼下) n the grund flr, nt the first flr. Why did she give me the wrng infrmatin?
Julien：I’ve gt an English penfriend, wh I finally gt t meet in Lndn this summer. He had tld me that his grandfather was “really wicked (恶毒的)”. But when I met his grandfather, I liked him a lt. I fund it very dd (奇怪). Why did my friend use a negative (负面的) wrd abut such a nice man (那么好的人)?
Zheng Xu：The British must have really high standards (标准). I was part f a student exchange prgramme (交换项目) between a univeristy in England and my university in China. I spent days preparing and writing (write) my first English paper. I knew I had dne a gd jb and was lking frward t getting (get) a psitive cmment (积极的评价). When I gt the paper back, I fund my teacher had written the cmment (评价) “Nt bad!” Nt bad? But there weren’t any errrs (错误) in my paper (论文).

人们说英国人对于吃的东西总是安全至上。（事实）并非如此！我曾参加过曼彻斯特的一个暑期班，当时我的英语老师叫Maggie。一天，另一个老师代我们课。他告诉我们说Maggie那天不能教课，因为她喉咙里有一只青蛙（had a frg in her thrat表示因喉咙疼导致说话困难）。可怜的Maggie，但是她为什么要吃一个这么大的青蛙吗？

当我在纽约游览时，我去了一个闹市的商业中心买冬鞋。在入口的咨询台，我问一位女士鞋区在哪里。她说在一楼。所以我就去了一楼，但是却没有看到任何鞋子。我决定离开。当我找出口时，看到鞋区实际上是在底层而不是一楼。她为什么要给我假信息呢？（备注：美国first flr指在地面的楼层，和中国的一楼一样，而英国则用grund flr表示一楼，用first flr表示地面上边的一层，即我们所说的二楼。）
