Step1. Presentation

1. The music for the Beijing Olympics uses traditional Chinese music and the sounds of an ancient Chinese bell, ______ it is in a Western style.

though 和although的区别

though   连词 conj. 虽然，尽管 ， 副词adv.  不过，然而

although  连词 conj.虽然，尽管

1. 两词同义并可换用，但although语气较重，通常放在句首并用于正式场合。如： I'd quite like to go out, although/ though it is a bit late. 我很想外出，虽然为时稍晚。

Step3. Practice

Though/Although my car is very old, I don’t want to buy a new one.

2. 当让步状语从句指某种假设情况，通常用though，而不用although。如：

Let's start as arranged though it rains tomorrow.

Though everybody deserts you, I will not.

_______ all the world were against me, I should still hold to my opinion.           

3. though 可用于even though, as though 等结构，although则不能。

   Even though I fail, I'll keep on trying.

   You look as though you know each other.

4. although 和 though 用作连词时不能和but连用，但可跟yet, still 等连用。如：
Although he lives alone, yet he is happy.

= He lives alone, but he is happy.

My car is very old, but I don't want to buy a new one.

1. I am so good that I should be in Hollywood instead.

2. Millie is such a good storyteller that she could write exciting scripts.

3. Hepburn spent her last few years working closely with UNICEF so that she could help poor children in different parts of the world

1. so…that…引导结果状语从句

so …that…句型中的so是副词，常用句型为：

主语 + 谓语动词 +so +adv./adj.+that从句

He is so young that she can’t look after herself.

The boy ran so fast that I couldn’t catch him.

1)     such＋a(an)＋adj.＋单数可数名词＋that…

   He is such a clever boy that everybody likes him.

2) such＋adj.＋不可数名词+ that…

 He has made such great progress that the teachers are pleased with him

3）such＋adj.＋复数名词+that…

 They are such interesting novels that I want to read them once again.

3. so that引导目的状语从句时，表示“以便；为了”，从句中常使用can /could /may /might /will /would /should等情态动词或助动词；此时可与in order that换。

I spend more time learning English every day so that(＝in order that) I can make greater progress this year
