If you are a sports fan, you would be watching the ongoing FIFA Women's World Cup in But if you are a basketball player like me, you would have been interested in NBA finals, won by the Toronto Raptors this year. It is the first time a Canadian Team or any team outside the United States, has won the NBA. The President of Toronto Raptors, Masai Ujiri, who led the team to make history, is from Nigeria.
During the half time break, if you were reading the cool and fashionable British Vogue (时尚)magazine that features some of the trendiest fashions in the world, then it would be nice to know that the editor of it is Edward Enninful, born in Ghana.
After the Raptors game, you got into your stylish Tesla electric car, the world's best known and bestselling commercially produced all electric car. So, here are three very different people, from three unique backgrounds, who have impacted the entire world on a small, medium, and large scale.

So, I started my Dream Up, Speak Up, Stand Up project, to get girls into schools, and encourage them to dream big, speak loudly and clearly if they believe in something, and to stand up for those who can't stand up for themselves.
Mr Enninful, Mr Ujiri and Mr Musk are three examples of people, dreaming big, and walking tall. But I know they do not want to dream alone, or walk alone. They need more people to keep them company on their journey of transforming and impacting the world. They need you! After all, they are just like you, Africans from Ghana, South Africa and Nigeria.

The cup of coffee you are thirsty for in the morning is good for your health. New studies show that caffeine can lead to all kinds of benefits. Drinking coffee reduces the risk of getting Parkinson's disease, heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, gallstones, depression, cirrhosis, liver cancer; melanoma, and prostate cancer.
Studies show that drinking four or five eight-ounce cups of coffee a day lowers death rates. Compared to people who did not drink coffee, coffee drinkers were less likely to die early from all causes. Another study said that drinking coffee within limits "can be part of a healthy lifestyle".
Over the years, coffee has had a different reputation. Some medical scientist linked it to heart disease, stroke, Type 2 diabetes, pancreatic cancer, anxiety disorder, nutrient loss, gastric reflux, migraine, insomnia, and premature death. Exercise has an undeniable link to the development of better bodies. A recent study conducted by University of Delaware researchers found that speech-language therapy(疗法) improves children's vocabulary growth. The study, which was published in the journal Journal of Speech-Language and Hearing Research, highlights one of the first studies on the impact of exercise on vocabulary learning in children.
Children ages 6 to 12 were taught new words before doing one of three things: swimming, CrossFit exercises, or coloring a sheet. In follow-up tests of vocabulary words, the children who swam were 13% more accurate.
It makes sense to the lead researcher, Maddy Pruitt, a former college swimmer who now attends CrossFit classes on a regular basis. "Motor movement aids in the encoding(编码)of new words," she explained, adding that exercise has been shown to increase levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor(脑源性神经营养素), a protein Pruitt refers to as the "MiracleGro of the brain."
So, why did swimming make a difference but CrossFit didn't? Pruitt attributes it to the amount of energy required by the brain during each exercise. Swimming is an activity that children can do without much thought or instruction While the CrossFit exercises were new to them, it was more automatic. The children had to learn the moves, which took mental energy.
"We were very excited about this study because it is applicable to clinicians, caregivers, and educators who can put it into practice," Pruitt said. "It's not anything out of the ordinary. However, it has the potential to significantly improve the outcomes."
32. What does the research focus on?
A. The effect of exercise on word learning in children.
B. The impact of exercise on body development in children.
C. The children's growth through speech-language therapy.
D. The denial link between exercises and body development.
33. Which of the following can best replace the underlined word "attributes" in paragraph 4?
A. adds. B. introduces. C. owes. D. contributes.
34. Who arc suitable to try out the study according to Pruitt?
A. Politicians. B. Engineers. C. Reporters. D. Teachers.
35. What would be a suitable title for the text?
A. Researchers study speech-language therapy
B. Exercise helps children develop vocabulary
C. A new way significantly improves the vocabulary
D. Motor movement aids in the invention of new words
第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
Malaysians are a fortunate nation when it comes to food. Food is readily available, especially in towns and cities. There are hawker stalls(小贩摊)along streets, restaurants, and food courts. 36 People have the choice of eating out or cooking their meals at home. Three factors that affect the choice of eating out and eating at home are cost, convenience, and quality.
37 For example, buying the ingredients(食材)to cook a plate of fried noodles may cost less than half the price of a plate of fried noodles at a restaurant. Restaurants and food stalls need to make a profit. Therefore, they have to charge more than the actual cost of the food they serve.
The second factor that determines to eat out or at home is convenience. Having someone cook for you, serve you, and clean up after you, definitely makes eating out more convenient than eating at home. It saves you the trouble of having to shop for the ingredients, doing the actual cooking, and washing up afterward. 38 So it is no wonder that busy people prefer to eat out most of the time.
Quality is the third thing to consider when choosing between home-cooked food and outside food. 39 And it is more hygienic(卫生)generally. In contrast, food served at stalls and restaurants is often not prepared with such good quality ingredients as this would reduce their profit margins.
In brief, eating out is more convenient while eating at home is less costly and much healthier. Making the choice is really not that hard as it just depends on what is most important to you. 40 If you do not want to spend so much on food, then cooking your own meals is the better choice. Finally, if health is your most important concern, it would be better to eat at home.
A. Preparing a meal is also time-consuming.
B. If you dislike cooking, eating out is the solution.
C. A great variety of delicious food is sold in these places.
D. Eating out is more and more popular around the world.
E. It is convenient to eat out despite the high fat food.
F. Naturally, food prepared at home uses better quality ingredients.
G. In terms of cost, eating out is usually more expensive than cooking at home.
