目的状语从句的定义:从句部分用以补充说明主句中谓语动词发生的目的的状语从句。引导目的状语从句的连词或词组一般有:s that以便,in rder that以便。如:She wrked hard s that everything wuld be ready by 5 'clck. 她努力工作,以便在五点前一切都就绪。
目的状语从句的一个特点:由于目的都是未来的行为,所以从句中一般用表示未来可能性的时态。
学习目的状语从句应注意:(1)目的状语从句中常含有can, culd, may, might, shuld等情态动词。如:I gt up early s that I culd catch the first bus. Yu must speak luder s that/in rder that yu can be heard by all.
(2)在口语中s可以引导目的状语从句。 如:We'll sit nearer the frnt s we can hear better. 我们坐得靠前一点以便我们听得清楚一点。
【注意】in rder that/s that与in rder t/s as t的区别:in rder that/s that “为了”,后接从句,做目的状语。in rder t/s as t “为了”,后接动词原形,做目的状语。如:I get up early in rder that I can catch the early bus. I get up early in rder t catch the early bus.
表示目的的s that从句可以用in rder that替换,若主句和从句的主语一致的时候还可以用 s as t 或 in rder t 将其转换为简单句。

有时为了加强语气in rder that从句或in rder t短语还可以放到句首,但s that和s as t 不行。 如:In rder that I culd be in time fr the mrning exercises, I gt up early. =In rder t be in time fr the mrning exercises, I gt up early.
