at the age f / by the age f
（1）at the age f表示“在……岁时”后面接基数词，强调某一时刻的情况或动作，用于一般过去时，作时间状语。 She learned t play the pian at the age f ten．（2）by the age f表示“到……岁的时候”、“在……岁以前”，后面接基数词，强调到某一时刻为止的结果，用于过去完成时或将来完成时，作时间状语。By the age f sixteen，he had learned t drive a car．

by sea“走海路；坐轮船”，by表示乘坐交通工具或行走方式，by与名词间不可用冠词。如：Last summer I visited Krea by sea.
by the sea“在海边”，by表示“在……旁边”，by与后面的名词间常有冠词修饰。如：We live in a small village by the sea.
在规定时间内或提前发生。

（1）in hspital  是“生病住院”的意思，hspital 具有抽象化的涵义，不指某个具体的医院，故前面不用冠词。He is ill in hspital. （2）in the hspital 意为“在医院”， 在这里，hspital 指一家具体的医院。In the hspital, the wman finds her husband.

（1）because f ：引起结果的直接原因，可和because变换句子。He retired last mnth because f illness. （2） wing t ：引起某不良后果的原因。Owing t the rain they culd nt cme. （3） thanks t ：引起某种幸运结果的原因，“幸亏……，多亏……”。Thanks t Jhn, we wn the game. （4）due t ：=because f，可作表语或状语。My illness was due t bad fd.
（1）such as用来列举整体之中的部分同类人或事物作例，such as之后没有逗号，直接加名词性短语，一般不跟 and s n连用。Sme f the Eurpean languages cme frm Latin, such as French, Italian, and Spanish． （2）fr example是列举整体之中的一个为例，在句子中多用作插入语，用逗号与主句隔开，fr example之后也有逗号。fr example作插入语，位置可以在句首、句中或句末。Nise，fr example，is a kind f pllutin as well.

（1）at the end f 可表示时间，也可表示地点的末尾，尽头。     （2）  by the end f 仅表示时间，指“在……前” 、“到……为止” 。（3） t the end常与运动性或持续性动词连用，表示“到（某一）终点为止。（4） in the end后不接任何单词，表示 “最后、终于” ，相当于 at last ,finally。
