Mst American cllege students need t be efficient readers. This is necessary because full-time students prbably have t read several hundred pages every week. They dn't have time t read a chapter three r fur times. They need t btain as much infrmatin as pssible frm the first r secnd reading.
An extrardinarily imprtant study skill is knwing hw t mark a bk. Students mark the main ideas and imprtant details with a pen r pencil, yellw r blue r range. Sme students mark new vcabulary in a different clr. Mst students write questins r shrt ntes in the margins. Marking a bk is a useful skill, but it's imprtant t d it right. First, read a chapter with ne pen in yur hand and thers next t yu n the desk. Secnd, read a whle paragraph befre yu mark anything. Dn't mark t much. Usually yu will mark abut 10% f a passage.
