Step 1 Revisin
T:Gd mrning,bys and girls!Last class I asked yu t prepare the descriptin f dinsaurs and Milu deer and dds,s nw I will ask sme f yu t have a try.Any vlunteers?
S1:Dinsaurs lived n the earth lng befre humans came int being.There were many different species f them,f which a rare new ne was able t run as well as climb.The reasns fr their dying ut are nt sure.Maybe because f a large rck r due t the ht weather.
S2:Dds lived n the earth lng lng ag.They lived n an island called Mauritius.They were curius and kindhearted and quite different frm mst f the animals there.They were birds,but they were large and nly had small wings.Their favrite activity was t wander alng the beach and wait till the insects were ready t be eaten.
S3:Milu deer used t be cmmn in China.They lived tgether and lived n grass.But as a result f hunting,they disappeared frm China later.Luckily,sme were taken t Britain befre that.S Chinese gvernment can bring back sme.Nw there are mre and mre Milu deer in China.

(Teacher asks tw students t answer tw easy questins,then express gratitude using different tnes.One is ”Thank yu↘”.The ther is “Thank yu↗.” )
T:Well,just nw I said “Thank yu”,d yu find sme differences?
Ss:Yu use different tnes.
T:Gd.In the first ne,the falling tne shws that I am very grateful.But in the secnd ne,the rising tne means that is what the S shuld d and I was nt really grateful.
T:In spken English,tnes are used t express different feelings.T understand hw the speaker is feeling,listen fr fur main things:

stress n certain wrds
pauses in the sentences

Ss:It lks like a duck.It’s very large.
T:What abut its wings?Are they very large t?
Ss:N,its wings are very small.
T:Can it fly high in the sky easily?
S1:I dn’t think it can easily fly high in the sky.
T:D yu agree with her?
Ss:Yes.
T:S what might be its prblem?
S2:It can nly walk n land.And when there is an animal attacking it,it can’t escape.
T:Yu might be right.Let’s listen and see.As fr the first time,yu dn’t have t understand every wrd.Yu can ignre what yu dn’t understand and cncentrate n what yu can understand.Nw please pen yur bks and turn t Page 30 t g thrugh the Ex.2 and try t predict what might happen t dd.
