    Peple in Pigtwn said they held the event t celebrate the imprtant rle the site has cme t play in raising Pigtwn’s neighbrhd spirit.
    “Once the event started, it became a neighbrhd hangut, a place fr men t hear music, talk t each ther, and pitch hrseshes,” said William Chambers, 83, a lifelng Pigtwn lcal.
    “Infrmal games are ften held, rain r shine, especially n weekends,” said Charltte Marshall, anther lifelng lcal. “We care abut this neighbrhd and abut each ther.” She was helping ck ht dgs and burgers at the event.
    A star in lcal cmpetitins, Tny Ashtn, and his partner, Ernie Jnes, beat tw ther tw-man teams in early runds.
    “My wife says, ‘Dn’t bring hme any mre prizes!’” he said, laughing. “If I win ne tday, I’ll give it t the neighbrs here. They are wrthy f it.”
    Len Green and his partner, Whitney, were kncked ut early in the turnament, but std by happily drinking a cup f fresh juice.
