Last Thursday,the wrld's first self-driving,electric cntainer（集装箱）ship made its first trip t Osl,Nrway. The ship's wners aim t cut pllutin by mving large amunts f prducts by water n the suthern cast f Nrway instead f by truck.

A new study suggests that when parents baby talk t their babies, they might be helping them learn t prduce speech.
The way parents tend t speak t babies-raised,vice,exaggerated(夸张的）prnunciatin, slwer speed is cnsidered t nt nly attract them, but pssibly help them learn t understand what parents are saying. New research frm the University f Flrida suggests that baby talk can have anther, previusly unknwn advantage: helping babies learn t prduce their wn speech.The researchers think that by cpying the sund f a smaller vcal tract (声道），we adults are shwing babies what the wrds shuld sund like when they cme ut f their wn muths.
“It seems t cntribute t the prductin f speech, nt just the understanding f speech,” said Matthew Masapll, Ph.D.,an assistant prfessr in UF's Department f Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences.“It's nt just g-g ga-ga.”
In the study,the researchers changed sund frequency (声频） t cpy either a baby's r adult's vcal tract, and then tested hw babies reacted. 6-8 mnth ld babies “shwed a clear and strng preference fr speech with the frequency that suggests a vcal tract similar t their wn in size and length ,”they wrte.
4-6 mnth ld babies didn't have that preference, thugh. S the fact that lder babies are mre attracted t adults' baby-like sunds may result frm their new ability t cntrl their vices and make wrds rather than meaningless sunds.
