概念:在句子中作定语的句子叫定语从句或修饰名词或代词的句子，叫做定语从句.
(Attributive clause)

句子作定语,修饰by, 叫做定语从句
结构： 先行词 + 引导词（关系词） + 句子
which, wh, whm, whse, that
where, when，why
是人就用Wh, 宾语可用Whm；非人用Which, that 都可以；时间when,地点where,原因why,谁的whse。
关系词的作用： (1) 引导定语从句 (2) 在从句中作一成分 (3) 代替先行词在从句中的位置
关系代词: wh whm whse that which
引导定语从句的关系代词
whse指物时, 可以与 f which 调换
引导定语从句关系代词的用法：
1)A plane is a machine that/which can fly.
2)The ndles that/which I cked were delicius.
3)Let’s ask the man that/wh is playing sccer ver there.
4)The by whm/wh/that we met yesterday is Jim’s brther.
指人whm/wh/that都可作宾语，whm为最好选择

that和which在指物的情况下一般都可以互换, 但在下列情况下,只能用that不用which
(1)先行词是不定代词all, n, nne,everyne, smething, much, little等或被不定代词所修饰I am sure she has smething (that) yu can brrw.
a. This is the first bk (that) he has read.b. She is the mst beautiful girl (that) I have ever seen.
(2)先行词被序数词或形容词最高级修饰时。
注意：当先行词指人时，偶尔也可以用whAny man that/.wh has a sense f duty wn’t d such a thing.

(3)先行词被the nly, the very, the same, the last修饰时。
the same…that…同一 the same…as…同样

当先行词指人时，偶尔也可以用wh Wang Hua is the nly persn in ur schl wh will attend the meeting？

(6) 关系代词在定语从句作表语时She is n lnger the girl that she was befre she went t the university.(7)在there be 句型中There is a bk that is n the table.There is a girl wh is my sister.
there be 句型中, 先行词是人, 关系代词用wh, 是物用that.
(8)句中有两个定语从句时，第一个的关系代词已用了wh 或which, 第二个定语从句的关系代词用that. Our English teacher is the man wh is talking with the girl that is in red.
指人时，一定要用“wh”的： ①先行词为 thse等不定代词 Anyne wh desn’t study hard will nt pass the exam. ②主句为“There be” 句型 There’s a student wh is frm Beijing. ③人称代词：he, me, we等 He wh has never been t the Great Wall is nt a true man. ④非限制性定语从句中用wh不用that Tm’s brther, wh lives in Lndn, is an engineer. ⑤ 先行词后有一个较长的句子成分 I met a freigner in the city last week wh culd speak Chinese well.
关系副词 when, where, why的用法
关系副词都等于一个适当的介词＋which，在从句中作状语
When = in/at/n/…+which;Where = in/at/n/…+which;Why = fr /…+which

关系代词和关系副词如何区别？
1.取决于从句中的谓语动词。不及物动词后面无宾语，就必须用关系副词或介词+关系代词；而及物动词后接宾语，则要求用关系代词。　2.要看他们在从句中作什么成份而定。或者说，假如把先行词放到从句中是作主语、宾语还是状语而定。1）This is the city where I stayed last year.2）I‘ll never frget the days when I wrked tgether with yu.　3）I'll never frget the days (which) I spent in the cuntryside.
